SWEET!! Glad you got it ready for the show. I will be at albertsons about 9am in the south end of the lot. If somebody beats me there, find a nice big open area. Otherwise I will.

Looking great, Cody! You know what they say about imitation, well I'm flattered. I thought long and hard on the wheel/tire combination so I'm glad you found them. My friend to whom I sold the truck to says he's the "care taker" of my truck. He tried to find other wheels for it to make it his own but tells me that he can't do any better, which is another high compliment.

I've finally updated my preferences to subscribe to this thread so I will stay in touch better.

Yes, definitely remove leaves! You can go down to just a few as long as you don't want to carry anything and the pack is strong enough to withstand axle wrap from the engine. You can always bring back spring rate with air shocks or bags.

I will update my thread right after this as the truck has been featured in a Japanese magazine called Kyusha Roman. Keep up the progress! -Duane

Truck is lowered and wheels/tires finally put on. I would like to go maybe an inch lower all around so it sits a little more flush, what do you guys think? Should I cut a coil and take one of the leafs out? Those will be the only mods for now until I start getting money together to fund the swap and restoration between this one and the '70 parts truck I picked up. I mainly did the drop and wheels/tires so I can take it out to car shows this summer, show it off a bit. So the build might be slowing down for the time being, if I lower more, I'll update, and I'll still be here on the forums at least every day or so! :)

    More pictures.

Very old shocks next to new Tokico ones. Had to shave some of the lower control arm where the shock goes through to get it in, it was just a tad too thick. Made it work though.

Stock springs vs. Mighty Max stock springs.

Rear leaf set-up as of now. I didn't feel like messing with the upper pack encase bolts broke or whatnot, just because they haven't been messed with in years I would guess, and it was the day before the show, so I just took the 2 overloads out.

Tuhd The Troll and bendiesel, thanks a ton guys!

standardbyker, thanks man, was great seeing your truck at the show, it would be awesome if you tracked down a 1st gen.

kmg, that's the plan, I want to go another inch or so, so it sits damn near flush with the fender/bed.

toydatto, great to hear from you again, I actually went with the same exact tire/wheel combo. Tracked down a store on ebay that had the wheels with same offset and everything, was so stoked when they came in. Had a lot of people at the show commenting on the truck/wheel combo and how great it fit, couldn't help but think of your truck when I heard that. I don't know how much I can tell you that your truck is the main inspiration for the look I'm going for, thanks again. Would like to drop it another inch or so, like I stated above, so it sits flush with the body.

85pickamatruck, awesome pictures, and was good to meet you, can't wait to see your truck when it's all done with the Lexus suspension and motor and everything, I'll have to search and follow your build on here!

Awesome update Cody. Good to see how excited it has you. Toyota has that effect lol. I like the pics too. Too bad I couldn't stay longer at the show but I had a 74 and a 78 to go fix roadside for my buddies that didn't make the meet  Anyways, let me know if you need a hand with anything. I'm a pro at rolling fenders, so if you go lower and need to do that let me know. I think they look cool even when you don't need it. My fenders are a good example, well...more so the passenger side. Driver was a replacement I put on. I found all that bondo as I rolled it out.

85pickamatruck and sho, did you guys get any pics of my truck either by itself or with the group or rolling there? I'm gonna search other peoples stuff online and try to find some more of us at that show. I saw a ****load of cameras and they gotta be getting posted someplace lol.

Wow, truck's look great! And Standardbyker, your truck has come a long way. I need to catch up with your thread. You guys should get together and try Cody's wheels on the 78 just for giggles.

Cody, it looks much better with less spring pack and I really thought it would drop more with the Mighty Max springs. I went cheap and cut my stock springs when I had the static drop. You might want to cut your stock springs vs the Mighty Max springs as the spring rate on the MMs is probably stiffer.

Joe, surprisingly I haven't seen any pictures of our trucks posted anywhere! But you're right I did see people snapping shots, who knows. If I go that low that I have to roll my fenders I guess I'll have to a little but I'm not sure if I'm going to slam it down to the ground just yet. Bummer the other couple Hilux's couldn't have came out, saw the photo you took with them, good looking truck, hopefully they can make it out soon.

Duane, I think I might do that with the stock ones, keep the mighty max if for some reason I have to go back up to where it sits currently. How many should I take off the stock ones? Do you remember how many you did, or should I compare to the mighty max ones, cut the same, and go down from there?

elpatronortiz, thanks man, I'll trade you the body of your truck for mine and the parts. He he he.

Update, lowered the truck more. The stock Mighty Max ones weren't low enough so I decided to cut my stock ones, took off 2 and a half coils off each one. Also took the bottom leaf of the 4 out. So went from a 4-pack and 2 overloads, to a 4-pack, to just the top 3 right now. Bump stops in front also removed. Truck sits at a much better height now, mudflaps are about half an inch from pavement. Here are some photos, always edited because for some reason my iPhone can't take photos that look good with no filter. :p

Here is a similar shot I took last week of when I first lowered it, the updated picture is on bottom.

Now it's sitting right! Welcome to the land of drag flaps not mid flaps! Looks great. The pic of me rolling in to the old school show they have on their Facebook is my computer desktop background lol. Haven't searched for any others yet. Or edited and posted mine. I took 3-1/8 coils off. They settled about an inch over a few years. Mighty maxs are a little softer for the set I have. They're on my truck right now. They're drop coils though so who knows.

Took the truck to a car show this previous weekend, was going to enter to be judged, possibly win 'Best Old School' since it was a show with a ton of newer vehicles and not many in the old school class, but I missed the $25 pre-registration and didn't want to pay the $50 at the gate. Just paid $10 to be parked in with the others (without being judged), got a lot of compliments and looks which was cool, someone also snapped a shot of it and uploaded it online which was kind of sweet to see.

And they say you can't polish a turd. Well I see a shiny poop right there! The new stance is great. If you wanna go lower you won't hear me complaining. Lol
