    Finally tore into it!

About time! I finally am putting my weber 32/36 on.. I pulled as many vacuum lines and EGR stuff out as I could. I need to go get a few things to finish it up but it should be done later today!:clapping::D

A little update on my truck...

I re-did 99% of my exhaust, making it 2 inch start to finish and added a glasspack. She sounds amazing if I say so myself. She breathes a lot better too, now that its not 2" down to 1 5/8" to 1 1/2" at the end..

This combined with the weber and she's pretty quick for a 36 year old motor..

Will it handle any better then before? It's just cut stock coils and blocks, new shocks though.

Yeah it handles a bit tighter. But depending on how low you go, you might have to remove the sway bar. This would just affect turning at high speeds.

I'm only doing 3".. I'm not going so far to have to notch, or want a notch:D

3" will look good and be perfect for who it's for.

The sway bar tip is true. It will hit the spring pocket at about 6" drop. Mines in the parts pile.

Will I need to do anything about it at 3" drop?

Very doubtful. For safe tires I would hammer the pinch weld along the inner fender flat. The one at the back where the fender meets the firewall. And check for any self tapping bolts hanging in the tire path. 3" shouldn't ever make contact but I always prefer to be safer than sorry.

On my 78 I'm so low I hammered the inner fenders with a 2lb sledge until the metal wouldn't stretch anymore. It finally made contact with the brake booster so I put a smaller diameter one from an 81 2wd. I got to the point where I used a scissor jack on the tire to the inner fender with a jack under the frame to give wheel well access. I'm not sure how much it moved the metal but probably 2-3" all over.

You are ridiculously low.. :D but that's ok!

I'm running stock steelies so I'm hoping I won't have to do anything. Ill find out when it's all being done.

    Exciting!!!

I started lowering my truck tonight:D:clapping::waytogo::headbang::clapping::D:waytogo::applause:

But couldn't finish it, started at 7pm.. And I destroyed one of the ball joint grease covers while separating it.. Sadly none of the parts stores had them in stock, and the one that did closes early.. Oh well, and I might as well replace both..

I'm also going to pull apart my front brakes as my drivers side likes to squeal randomly.. Going to grease the slides and such, maybe even put stop squeal on the pads..

I'll have pictures of before and after as soon as I'm done and feel good about it:waytogo:

I have my stock rims too. Never had issues with the rim. Just when the tire hits the inner fender. Don't forget to hammer the pinch.

Mine don't hit anything that I can see or hear. Thankfully! And it handles soooo much better! Didn't help that my last shocks were toast! I think I'm hitting bump stops though.. Lowlife problem:D

I only lowered the front for now, the heat (that we never get) is getting to me, and I'll be the first to say I have a short temper when I'm hot and greasy.

Everything went really well, except tearing the grease cover.. I'll probably lower the back sometime this week.

I'm having a hard time finding the pinch weld your talking about.. I'm probably completely blind, but I'm just not seeing it..

it runs vertical in the back of the inner fenderwell. Its where the firewall meats the side panel. Might need to turn the tire to the side. And its under the fender liner if thats still up there. If you have those and clear them then you are all set lol.

That makes sense! I still have the fender liner.. I have bothe bump stop things, barely any wheel travel:D but I'm fine with that.. I enjoy the new cornering abilities!:D
