Hey guys, I'm have a 93 x-cab with a Chevy 6.0 that I'm starting to drag race. I am wondering which leaf to remove to drop it about 1.5in and soften the spring rate middle leaf or overload. I don't want to lower it too much I'm running a 275/60 drag radial, any help would be greatly appreciated.
I wouldn't recommend removing any. It will increase axle wrap especially with what your running. Unless you have a traction bar... And a good one.... Too much axle wrap will bust the pinion...
X2 don't remove any leafs with that kinda torque even on street tires . Def not on radials traction bars / torque arm or a slapper bars would be nice . With a ford 9 inch or Chevy 12 bolt axle if your going for 1/4 mile setups
Thanks for the replies, the truck has a explorer 8.8 rear end and a set of slapped bars. My plan is to install a set of cal-tracs at some point. I'm trying to get the truck to squat when I leave the line, that's why I would like to soften the spring rate. I also think lowering the rear slightly may help with weight transfer.
Another question I have is, does anyone make an affordable set of tubular control arm or should I just try to bud my own. The truck already has coil- over front suspension.
I'd like to see some of these photos, man. As for the rear, I'd get some drop springs in the rear to shift weight towards the rear. If anything, try out some adjustable dampeners. If you 4-link the rear, might as well coil over it and make use of your investment you're already putting money into.
I do not know how to post pics I'm not very computer savy, I could e-mail you what I have which isn't much, I didn't take many during the build. If you pm your e-mail I can send u what I have. I would like to stick with stock suspension because that's what's big around here(Ga.). I know I need better shocks something double adjustable and a different mounting. Right now the truck runs low 7s in the 1/8 at 102mph with a 1.88 60ft which is pretty bad in the 60.
