So I have never been much into alarms and such. I know a lot of you on here probably are. I know there are lots of universal kits that have extra channels for stuff like lights, bags, windows, ect. Has anybody ever seen any kits that utilize bluetooth or wifi to talk to an iphone/ipod? I have an iphone 4g, and a spare 3GS. I also have a small portable wifi router that could connect things. Like the ones Clearwire gives people. Can be left hidden with a cord plugged in. The reason I ask is I would like to put an alarm on my truck. I don't have power windows or locks, but have been considering adding them. I don't mind the few extra lbs on such a light truck. I would like to have a channel that drops the windows, one to unlock the doors, maybe one to the air horn, and some extras for lights and stuff I may think up later. I would prefer not to have a key fob, so help me out guys. If its something under a few hundred bucks its within my realm of options.
I don't have an alarm on my Toyota but in my daily I have a Bluetooth CD player that auto connects to my phone it's nice .. Phone call s and nav go thru the car speakers .. I no for the iPhone they have some app that uses Bluetooth to unlock your doors and start your car and such .. But we're kinda limited on that .. My bud has an old viper alarm it rolls down windows auto starts has like a 8 accessorys prongs on the brain box but still has key fob tho
I really want the accessories more than the alarm. Ebay has key fob kits for the extra stuff. Just thought not having a clunky fob would be nice
I've seen some of what you're looking for, I've never been into that stuff so I never pay attention to who or where though. I have seen alarms with phone apps, I've seen alarms that will up/down the windows, run lights, etc. I don't know how much those overlap and I know the ones that connect to the phone won't be cheap. An alternative might be doing something with mini-computers like arduinos and similar kit type stuff. I know they run USB, serial, and bluetooth, have various inputs and outputs and some logic ability. The problem then is securing it. And building it in the first place since the whole point of that stuff is like linux...you can do anything you want as long as you can figure out how.
