Is there any info on putting supra LSD in a pickup rear end. Are they direct bolt ins or do you need a bigger axle or something? Any info would be great thanx.
7.5 mk2 supra diff swaps in 8 inc mk3 supra diff drops in keeping one baring and race from the supra it's pretty simple
That's awesome now I just have to figure out what rear I have and to find an LSD why did you mean by keeping one bearing though?
I did this in my '75 8" rear end. http://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/engine-drivetrain-46/supra-guts-75-8-diff-15764/
I'm not very sure on how to go about this is this a hard swap to do on your own or Gould I have a shop do it and what gear ratio would be best for daily driving
It's not difficult, it's just attention to detail. There's a lot of putting together, measuring, taking apart to adjust, put back together, measure, take apart, adjust.... Or you can get really lucky and get it all right the first time. My experience was a little different from a standard swap because I machined the supra carrier to accept the truck carrier bearings. Other than that, it was a pretty straight forward swap. I also had to grind the opening on the axle housing because the ring gear was hitting it, and I had to shorten the passenger side (I think) axle about a 1/4". If you can rebuild your engine, you can do this. The link inside my post is a very good step by step. It will help a lot.
all ya need is dail gauge and some marking paint check the gear pattern with paint if ok this gets rid of annoying step. if it's good swap the lsd units and swap ring gears since the toyota truck just use threaded cage's on eather side make adjustments really fast once you go stake the cages tighten down the cages I try for like 8 thou back lash
