This Taco thread below applies to 95 & earlier 5 luggers too, thought I'd share a new combo I recently did for a guy. 2 leaf setup using 5 lug leafs for 6" rear drop - CustomTacos.com Forum
i never thought about having that set up for the rear. seems like it should work pretty nicely but would it be better to run some air shocks with that set up? or some kind of air assist if we load up some heavy stuff?
Yes, it is using air assist. It uses a Air Lift $140 pump system and a set of $69 Monroe MA727. When he said he wanted to be able to haul 2 streetbikes, I knew the mono leaf mod wasn't for him. He definitely needed to give the main leaf some help. This truck was about 2-1/2" away from being able to squeeze a set of helper bags between the frame and leafs. It was just a little too low in back to use the bags without fabrication (somewhere other than between the leaf & frame) The air shocks were a simpler idea requiring no fabrication. I'm pretty sure the shock mounts should be able to handle the weight of 2 street bikes. Here are some pics below. 1st pic = 20psi 2nd pic = 100psi System is rated to 150psi
