Hello to all! My name is Kevin im from Avondale, AZ. Im really new to the mini truck scene, but have been loving anything automotive since i was a kid. My daily is a Toyota Yaris with all the basic bolt-ons and i also have an ae86 that god knows when im gonna finish that thing. But now to the reason im on this site, In october i picked up my 89 xcab for a damn good deal. Its super clean only issue it had was a squealing speedometer cable. So far the only thing ive done to it was replace the head unit due to the last owner misplaced the old face plate, and 3 inch blocks and BJ flip and cranked the torsion bars to lower it 2 inches in the front. Future plans is to paint it mint green, throw on some nice white rims, maybe an exhaust, upgrade the speakers, a steering wheel, and if i can find it make a Guinness shift knob. The pictures below are when i first got it and after i lowered it this past weekend. ...and thats pretty much me in a nutshell.
Welcome, Kevin! I'm the original owner of my truck, so I've been a mini-trucker since 1981. Driving my SR5 is still fun to this day. Glad you are enjoying your Toyota truck. And yes, anything automotive is cool!!! Rick
havnt been on here for a while so i thought i do a bit of an update to the progress of my truck after lowering it changed out the rims did some minor body work and removed the old striped to get ready for paint i went the plastidip route for paint and i loved the color i got after that switched out the tail lights and this is how she looks now after painting the rims white with plastidip
wow nice color man looks good...i wonder how it would look with some deep dish wheels? what type of look are u going for?
Maybe it's the lighting or something but it looks like the plastidip paint got lighter in the pic with the white rims.Looks good regardless. How do you get that plastidip stuff to be as hard and strong as regular car paint? My experience with that stuff has been limited but it didn't really last long and peeled easily.
Looks good I used plasti dip on the inside of my t-tops to black them out . Works well ..though about using the tan plasti dip on my yota as it resembles the creme oem Toyota color and can switch back quickly
