Anyone know if smaller dust caps are available? Test fit my 20s and they popped the center caps off. About 1/4" too much in the hub. Unsure if I can run larger spacers until body meets new frame.
Think a couple "whacks" on mine would only destroy the cap. Mine push my center cap out something fierce! Going in to work sunday at 3am to knock out my frame. I will pop the dust cap and see how much room I got behind it. I took a pic, will post.
LMAO I think I have those exact same style wheels. Only ran them a short while due to the niceness/low profile 17s looking weird on my rusty old piece. you'd have to space the wheels out a LOT for them to fit (at least in my case) no smaller dust cap would be enough. Getting wider spacers is on the list for the truck...somewhere after a body swap, 7M, bigger brakes, aero work, and some other bits.
I know this proably isn't your style nor mine but my bud has been rolling my old wheels with no grease caps at all for Long time . I replaced one of his studs tried to give him an old cap wasn't having it . Was kinda surprised that there wasn't any grease spray or splatter.. Mine don't fit either I just bought new ones and hit them with silver paint and clear to try and match the wheel better .
Dont have to space wheels, just put them on there to see if it will help. Going to remove unused threadsand chase them. Also considered painting dust caps lol. Going to pass spindles over to machine shop at work....problem solved.
if you're going to go through the trouble of machining something, why not just make an aluminum spacer that the center cap will snap onto and then fit into the center hub hole of the wheel?
Mine hit the center caps so I just took them off been running them for years with no prob. the wheel cap keeps most dirt out. I see the old work trucks running stocks with no cover all the time with no prob.
