New to forum. Just bought a 91 deluxe cab 4 wheel drive pickup and need to adjust one of the windshield wiper arms. Need advise on how to remove arm from stem. I removed the cap, the obvious nut and then there seems to be a washer under the nut that I can't budge. Any help would be appreciated.
after the nut you should be able to pry it off, get something behind it to help you pry it off, it also helps if the wiper is not making contact with the windshield, so pick it up
there should be just a cap that covers the nut, and the nut. nothing else. then you just have to pry or wiggle the arm to get it off.
Yeah, the nut might have a washer on it, but attached to it. It should come off with the nut. Then wiggle it....
^^ more than 2 and your jerkin off bro didnt your mom ever tell you that?? Back to question i had to wd40 mine and let them sit for a bit since the truck was 20 years old and the only thing ever replaced was the blades. It took some elbow grease but yah just work it slow and they should pop off that stem. Also in defense to the truck there should only be the cap, then nut, then off they come.
wow WTF!? really they are that stuck? just get a good pry bar and put something on the cowl so when you pry you dont damage anything, lift the wiper arm off the glass and give it a good pry, if all else fails try a small pulley puller
Bought a wiper arm puller from Sears for $12.00 and pulled both arms right off. The amount of force from the puller to break the drivers side loose was amazing...No way it would have ever giggled loose.
I stood mine up like so \_ then push down where the arm meets the hinge and back up. Mine were stuck on there good as well. I noticed it came off easier when I pushed it down at the hinge and then pulled up with the other hand on the other side.
Mine came right off even after 20+ years. lift the wiper arm, wiggle with a little pressure underneath. and my trucks definitely rusty.
