What would cause my truck to sound like a tractor when idling? Any ideas why

Tractor as in diesel thumping ..could be a few things bad plugs cap rotor cracked valve broken valve spring .. More info is it missing bad no power smoking running hot
If your talking about the old ticking at idle then it's pretty normal unless its a loud pronounced tick

What RPM is it idling at?
When were the valves last checked?
    Does it run OK otherwise?
Can you be more specific about the problem? I've been around a lot of tractors that sound VERY different at idle.

Scrub88: At idle is sounds like a tractor at idle, gunna check later today, hopefully nothing too bad, it all runs normal, its just the idle

    Kamesama980: rpms,I don't know, don't have the speedo/tach cluster, valves were replaced about a 5 months ago

Pop that valve cover off and check those valve springs . I cracked one a while back loosing partial movment of my exhaust valve and popped a head gasket cause of it ...I'd also check the plugs cap wires rotor
All the basic ignition stuff .. Then maybe move to the injectors see if u may have a dead one at idle .
