hey everyone, i just finished installing my new weber carb on my 77 pickup. everything went smoothly but when it came time to test it things went south. I took off everything to do with emissions and plugged the egr ports. when i started the truck it idled just fine. it has 18-19 psi of vacuum all over the intake manifold and the fuel pressure is 2 psi. no smoke out of the tail pipe and nothing irregular is happening. whenever i come to a stop though the rpms start to die unless i give her some gas and also after just driving down the street the idle drops and surges for a few minutes before coming back to normal. it's not driveable non the less. i have a video up on it for refernce at "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeQ2cO1vCTM&feature=youtu.be". any input or help would be much appreciated! thanks everybody!
Sounds like a float level adjustment... Its probably flooding up a bit as you come to a stop and thats where the surge is coming from... Had a holley that did the same thing. Adjusted the float lower and no issues after.
Yes check float level and the casting bowl it sits in ever sense weber carbs started being maid in Spain there casting quality is gone down hill some bowls look like garbage on the inside causing hang ups also a thicker throttle return spring can aid in returning the throttle plates to the same spot . Every time webers often take a few curse words and finagling to get set in
