Thanks Matt! I hope I'm building it right. I read enough 7MGTE stuff to where I know more about one than I do about my wife. :eyecrazy: I hope it pays off! Good luck on your's by the way. I might have some fun in mine, but you'll have a blast in yours!

    7MGTE oil pump block plug?

I finally got my motor back to where I need it to start making progress. I've been fitting everything together and ran into a snag.

The oil pump has a little oil "nipple" that sticks off the end where the gear is; I need to figure out what seals that part up when installed. Right now there is just a hole in the block where that thing sits and I need to figure out what plugs that hole. The hole isn't threaded, so I'm thinking it has to be something that will be pressed in.

I have 2 other blocks that I've used as reference and neither one has that hole on it. Check out the pictures for a better understanding.

I'm still waiting to see what the supramania.com people have to say about this.

    Thanks guys!

Got me on the hole thing only thing I can think is it does look like a brass press in freeze plug would go there if it doesn't have anything to do kinda weird You would think it be threaded for ease of sealing up

I figured this out pretty quickly, but I couldn't sign on all yesterday to update...weird. Anyway, there are two brass bushings that press into the 7MGTE block I have, the picture attached is one of them.
It's funny how you never see anything about this little piece online. Anyway, here it is in case someone was wondering.

Been working on getting the motor built and everything cleaned up. Here are my intake runners so far. The shorter one is what I'm in the middle of sanding and polishing, the longer one is next.

Are you wanting to know what trans to use or just if anyone has one?

If you know what you want and can't find anyone who has it, try www.car-part.com; it's a junk yard search. Put in your criteria and it should tell ya price and distance away from ya.

    Good luck

Finally got my parts from Driftmotion and time to install some of em last night. My wife and I just had a baby, so finding time to work on this has been tough.

I ordered some Toyota oil squirters and installed them along with my new oil pump and Arizona Performance oil tube. Since 7M's have terrible oil problems, I wanted to try to fix this by replacing everything thing with new or upgraded parts....I hope it pays off.

If anyone buys the Arizona Performance oil pump tube, make sure you test fit everything before you put it in and then once you get it where you want it, torque it all down.

I've also been trying to figure out what to do with my intake runners. I bought a bunch of sandpaper and also a Black & Decker Mouse sander and been smoothing the outsides. I'll probably just end up having em powder coated, but they'll at least be prepped with all the casting marks gone.

Below is kind of a before and after. The shorter one really shines compared to the longer one.

I'm a CAD design engineer, just for goofs I drew up an oil cap in my SolidWorks program that I thought would look cool. We decided to machine it; here are a few pictures from start to finish. We still have to press the threaded part into the top.

It turned out so nice, it looks fake in the last picture.

If you make an couple extra would love to have one to mount on my billet grill for an emblem. Very nice work on the details.

Thanks guys, I hope to make some more stuff on there if we have time.
Our machine shop foreman/ CNC operator said he'd like to make a couple more caps if he could get enough out of it to make it worth his time. He said he'd even like to have one for himself....and he's a Ford guy!
We still have to press the threaded part in, that might pose a problem keeping the machined face nice.

Yeah, I made a nice stainless piece...I should have taken a picture of it. I even made a print in SolidWorks on it....I'm weird, I know.

And as for the whole oil filter/ cooler thing, we'll see how that goes once I get everything installed. The stock filter bracket already interferes with the 5M motor mounts, so I'll either twist it or replace it.
