sup everyone newbie on this site, everyone probally seen me on yotascene.com well just want to get some advice on resetting the torsions on a 90... my friend wants to reset his the cheaper way instead of buying spindles or control arms. how do u know how much to turn the torsion bar before putting it back into the control arm, and how much of a drop is this..will this drop be the same as turning the torsions all the way down until u have like 5 threads left on the bolt or lower???
I pretty sure the torsion and torsion receiver are splined like axles, with one key bigger then the others so they cannot be simply rotated. Thats more work then what it's worth. You can sometimes get away with breaking lose the top 2 nuts on the torsion bolt, and then using your 7/8's (I believe) socket to turn the bolt and just lower it to whatever you want. Make sure to measure how much threads are showing before you do this so it'll be easy to put back to stock. When you get to where you want, measure side to side and match them. Or, Break the top nut loose, thread it to almos the end of the bolt, then break the nut under it loose and thread it to the bottom of the top nut, then just start undoing your torsion bolt.
wait your lowering the torsions!!!. I want to reset them!!.. on my friends truck its already torsion all the way down where you scrape every bump out there.. we want to reset them so that the anchor arms point up, and u don't have to worry about busting your torsions over a bump..
i know what you are talking about, basically setting the torsion key in a new position on the bar. the maximum drop you will probably see is the thickness of the bar which would i think works out to around 1"
Hmm... Well, it'd be the reverse of lowering, just tighten the torsions all the way up is the impression I am under. Just keep threading the nuts up then tightening the torsion bolt more and repeat the process until back to stock ride height. It seems like that is how it works. I don't think you can twist the torsion on the torsion receiver if thats what your asking. I recall there being one bigger key to not allow that. I can't simply just highten my torsions back up, I have 3" lower arms on my truck and I'd have to take them off to notice anything. I got a 4.3" drop, with use of the arms and 1.3" drop of torsions. So if I took my arms off and put the torsions back to what they are now (lowered some), my truck SHOULD have a 1.3" drop then.
carbon so u are using drop control arms... are u running stock rims or aftermarket.. because for some reason my friends truck is rubbing evertime he hits a bump or is taking a corner, this is with 14" steelies... is this common for the drop a-arms??? as far for resetting torsions I'll just see what happens when we do it...
Reset is easy cuz just mark the receiver and bar in the same spot and measure one inch away and mark that spot on the receiver. Put the bar out and rotate it so the mark you made on te bar connects to the second mark you made on the receiver. Same with the other side
