Not sure how the electronics work, but my truck's A/C won't kick the compressor on and its due to not having (enough) charge. In my case it was the two A/C lines had rubbed together until it made a hole in one of them. Trying to recharge it made a spray of green everywhere. Might run to the parts store and pick up a recharge kit and try that.

That's correct ^ in most cases if the pressure/ refrigerant is low the ac clutch will not kick in u can bypass the low pressure switch buy taking the two wires and splicing them together to see if your compressor will kick on . Don't keep it like that if u try it The oil and refrigerant are what keeps the compressor from burning up

The pressure switch is in line with the power feed to the ac clutch/compressors if it senses low to no freon it will not kick in the ac clutch wich engages the compressor . If it does not come on with the low pressure switch bypassed < wires connected to each other then u may have a bad compressor or a burnt loose or corroded power or ground . Check your freon pressure also if the system is overfilled it will cut off . From high head pressure

Besides the p;ressure switch there is an engine temperature sensor and your A/C amplifier could be bad. Get a fsm for your truck so you can find the engine temperature sensor and troubleshoot your A/C system.

Take it to a shop that all they do is AC day in and day out... I had issues with mine and the guy found the problem for $80.00 and recharged the refrigerant
