I was going to order up some rear leafs tonight and I started to wounder if I should run shorter shocks. so when I got on belltech site to see how much of shorter shock I'm needing it says their dropper leaf dosnt fit my truck only 89- newer.
so whats the difference in springs I thought 84-88 used the same spring as the 89 - newer.
my springs are wore out and I need new ones so I need some insight on this and how much shorter shock do I need with dropped springs

if it helps my truck is an 88 std cab

Ever think about just getting some springs from Pick n Pull? Would be alot cheaper going that route. Before mounting them up just clean them up, paint and then install.

why would I want to spend the money on used springs when they maybe in the same condition as mine or even worst? and I would still have the blocks in the rear to lower it, so if I need new springs it would be smarter to buy dropped springs correct?

just go to a junk yard, find some leaf packs, and use them. cut them to size if need be. i would think that if u get a leaf pack from like a heavy duty truck -all u would need is 1 leaf cuz its a stronger spring n u wont need that much to hold the truck up. hope i explained that correctly

The dropped leafs are the correct spring rate ,opposed to cutting or removing leafs ( mono leaf), where you have no idea of what you have or how it will ride!!

^^ what he said if your running drop leafs run a drop shock . My truck s mono leaved and it was floppy until I added blistein hd shocks helped but didn't cure it all . If there is a leaf spring company n your city they may make you a stiff mono leaf from scratch they may need your stock ones for reference

I ordered some bell drop leafs the other day they should show up soon

only reason why I got them instead of runing block's is because blocks have horrid axle wrap same as mono leaf

If you don't have an lsd you wonte notice wrap as much but with an lsd it is bloody annoying

I agree get the belltec drops. Thats what im doing. Its noy the wrap that bothers me its the wheel hope. I'm running main leaf and flipped overload and 3 in.blocks. and stock shocks. So if my wheels break loose at all it shakes my truck apart.. crap. If u can do it right. Drop leafs drop shocks and blocks for additional lowering.

Well then... sure showed me. I hate the wrap to! Long and short if it. Its a very shotty setup and leaves much comfortable and stability to be desired.

Yeah so I ordered up some springs a couple months ago and I'm finally getting to put this thing together. I started to put my springs in and their six inches to long but I can almost make the bolts if I preload the spring what's the deal has anyone came across this before? I know this can't be right to have them preloaded before I tighten every thing up
