I just recently have to replace my 22re engine on my 95 toyota pickup. i want to put in a stock one BUT i want to throw on a turbo kit. what are your guys suggestions? and if good, where could i get a kit for a decent price? thanks a lot
If U can source a decent manifold you can pretty much build a decent turbo kit around that if you have access or skillz to make a down pipe and other hot/cold side piping
stock+turbo=boom. Just sayin. The ECU, AFM, and injectors can't do a whole lot more than stock. You could do it, but for any appreciable power gains will need a lot more than just the turbo. As the saying goes: speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?
^ na ya can do it but you are boost limted and have to run higher grade gas you can do ct26 with a fule regulator but stock boost as high as ya wana go
Agree a 22r or e can be turbo charged just can't go boost crazy there's plenty of running examples of dependable low boost motors
it's totally possible, but this thread might give you some insights: 22RE vs 22RTE...differences - YotaTech Forums And what you'd put into a turbo setup could be put into the engine itself from the get go and get you returns across a larger section of the powerband, much greater reliability, and/or less hair-tearing-out. Just adding an engnbldr head and cam (about $600 for the combo, roughly), puts your engine at roughly the power range that the stock 22ret had. How much are you planning to spend on "a good stock one" for the engine?
Toyota Truck World - 22RE - turbo - complete (Blowers) Check this out it will help out a lot I'm in the same dilemma. As u. This guy knows his stuff.
If u want to keep it a toyota and 4 cyl...I recommend a 2rz boosted. A stock block on 15 psi can give u 300hp +.
standalone, turbo setup, injectors to run safely and smooth. and build your bottom end if you want to run it hard, forever.
Definitely a good bottom end speaking from experience if your not a peddle junkie stock bottom end will hold up for atwo or three years but if your in love with the sound of your truck spooled up and rippin then build you a solid long block with quality internals
I agree with above. Go with a good bottom end build from there. And by bottom end, think female gymnast, not Kardashian. Toned, tight and muscular over heavy, lumpy and dumpy. The extra investment now will pay off in the long run.
