This is my first toyota pickup and after this blessing, it wont be my last! the day i got it. Paid $1300 for it with a leaky radiator and that was it. 163k on it. after a little work. topper and hub caps gone, and a quick rattle can coat of black on the wheels. picked up some 17" wheels for now and installed a DJM 3/4 kit and also gave it a BJ flip. it was riding on the bump stops after the drop, so i decided to make a home brew c-notch for the frame. Figured I'd give it plenty of room for future lowerings. 6" should be enough right? Ill be adding the bump stops and junk once it all completed and undercoated. Oh. and heres my other obsession. A ground-up custom built honda ruckus. Slammed and stretched to the max. Ill update as things progress.
nice truck bro.Attack that chasis before it gets bad.Love the Honda. looks like fun and nice wagon trailer too.
finished welding the notches in, eliminated the LSPV, and sprayed the undercoating. Once the Undercoating is dry Ill finish installing the airbag shocks and trim out the box for fitment. there should be PLENTY of room for 3" more drop come spring.
thanks man! Got it on the road last night. Couldnt get the box trimmed up and installed because I didnt have an extra person to help position the box and set it on the frame. SO i rigged up the lights and plate so I had a vehicle to get to work and school. Its fun as hell to slide around corners and do burnouts without the weight of the box back there tho!
The display of piks are detail and helps to see how well u thought this out. Good job! One day I'll do the same. Whats ur C-notch specs if u dont mind?
30* angled legs, 6" total notch, made from 1/8x4 and 1/8x3 flat steel. I figured out the height i needed and welded it all up to teh point I could slide the notches over the cleaned up frame, welded them in, then cut the frame out so it was always supported. then capped all open areas off and welded the rest of it solid. made the entire notch for about $35+time.
So Ive picked up a set of used belltech drop spindles. Plan is spindles with the arms, torsion down another inch, relocate shackles into frame. Then Ill be running 16x9 4.25BS spun steelies up front and 16x10 4.25BS in the rear. I know I will have to do some good fender pulling/ rolling. Not afraid. Hope it turns out!
keeps the bed from smacking the axle when taking bumps. gives your suspension in the rear end more the 1/2" of play lol
Because once I am fully dropped, I still plan on using the truck as a functioning pickup, including using oem style bumpstops. On top of that, this was the first notch I had ever done and the first minitruck I have ever had. So I wanted to give myself PLENTY of room to do whatever I wanted to it without having to go back and redo work.
Big notch nuttin wrong with that could always add a load helper bags in there help with hauling 2 motorcycles wich could easily exceed 500 pounds
I have the gas adjustable shocks from Gabriel already. I just need to install the selonoids and pump. Got one out of a new crashed linkoln for a steal ($40)
