The second choice is the ideal one but all you will need for a basic drop would be drop blocks,u bolts and tortion bar adjustments.

I have done this basic drop lots of times on my trucks and with 17in rims you can pretty much lower it enough to cover the top of your tread in the front. As for the rear, it all depends on how big your drop blocks are. The bigger the block, the lower the drop! This can be done for about $60. The cons for adjust torsion bars are alignments and uneven wear on your front tires.

As long as you get the truck aligned after you drop it, you really shouldn't have to worry about the uneven tire wear especially considering the fact that your drop would be static and not adjustable. The alignment will probably be the most expensive part of the drop. But hey, tires cost a hell of a lot more than an alignment, right?

spindles are really good i think its the best drop ride your going to get..and if u get good drop shock it would make it ride solid...drop leaf r good to...i have the same set up and my mini rides like stock hight...

The front leaf spring hanger will be the lowest part when you drop it. I remember when I was static dropped those hangers would scrape on everything. I had de arched leaf springs and 3 inch blocks.
The secret shock to use is a 69 Camaro front shock from a 302 V8 Camaro. They require very minimal modification to get them to work (enlarge the lower mounting holes). But I believe they are a tad shorter so you need to adjust torsion bars. They totally work awesome. I used KYB Gas a Just shocks. Then I just got stock KYB Gas a Just shocks for my model truck for the rear. I think the KYB would be cheaper than the Nitro Drop shocks and work just as well.
17inch rims are bigger than stock so it would be giving you more clearance, allowing you to do a suspension drop with less clearance issues.
Spindles are very good because they maintain the correct suspension geometry but still lower the vehicle and keep a comfortable ride. And when messing with the rear axle you need to make sure the driveshaft angles (between tail of transmission and front of pinion) remain correct.

That is a great setup. That price is a steal too. If you have the money I would grab that while at that price.

DJM is one of the best suspension kits out there. Ive been using them since the early 90s.

Now would be a good time to buy and replace your shocks, if you do reasearch you will find the correct shocks. I use kyb brand and love them.

You still need the DJM lowers, for alignment specs.
