i have a one of a kind custom built channeled, shortened SR5 pickup with Supra IRS rear susp. Has 5mge supra six cyl. with a Spearco turbo. the car/truck was built back in 1982/83. it was on the cover and the spread of the may issue mini truck magazine 1983. Winner of LA Auto Show Grand Champion. This truck has some history behind it. The builder of this truck was Dick and Keith Dean. for those who dont know they also built the Munster coach, the Dragula, The Bat Mobile and the Ghost Busters Ecto 1. the truck has beaten known 12.20's cars. the trans suffered a catastrophic failure, the transmission input shaft broke, the car had been sitting under a tree for over 14 years and will need a complete restoration. what sux is the trans broke before we could get time slips.

i am going to do the best i can to get this thing brought back to its original glory. the rust got under the paint in alot of areas. not sure what color scheme to go with. thinking of going flat black just real raw, no flash.

Hey glad you made it over from celica supra!!!

Saw it up over there and knew the guys over here would enjoy it.

If you ever get a chance I would appreciate pics of the rear suspension set up and frame.

For the color I think you should definately repaint it the color it was back in the day. A truck with that much history is far to cool for flat black.

the amount of mud required to round all of the corners etc. is insane. i can work sheet metal though i am no sculptor. i have a few years befor i plan on dieing. so i will get this thing running for task 1. then i will hone my skills with the body rework. i have so many projects going at the moment so i can promise this will take some time to finish. my 11 year old son has a project 71 celica ST, i have this truck and a 70 Duster as well. every weekend i get more and more done. as for pics i will try to clean up the rear and and get some detailed shots and post them. if anyone is local and wants to get a closer look. thats no problem either.

Hahah sounds like your good and busy. So other than the truck being tattered... how does it run? Still purr like a kitten? Or is the mechanical gonna need an overhaul too?

well, i recently picked up a trans and am in the process of saving up for the clutch kit. if the trans wasnt such a MFB to pull. due to the 4 inch channel job doesnt help matters. i'd get the lifetime clutch from autozone. though judging by the carnage the old trans was turned into i better get a spend the bucks for a good clutch. this thing has sat for 14 years. i'm afraid of the injectors being clogged and who knows what else. i found some rust in the tank as well. not sure what i will do about that. might get me a fuel cell.

Yea i feel your pain on the clutch job.... i gotta put a new clutch in mine this spring... that tranny is tight in there.

So when is the last time it has ran? I would for sure clean out the gas tank at least and dissconnect the fuel line before the rail and run it for a min to try and clear out any debris that might be left in the lines. That way it wont get to the injectors. Then a new fuel filter, air filter, fresh fuel and try to see if she runs! If it does run at least i would do a Injector purge. They work well..... i find.

WOW! The cool thing is the truck was done back in the 80's before people really started to get into things like this - what a great choice in motors as well. Who in the hell let it sit under a tree for 14 years!!!!

wow........ some serious minitruckin' history here. this is awesome that you have taken this on!! whats the story behind why it was parked? who was the person who let it get to where its at? i figured something like this would have been kept in a museum of some sort or a garage from the original owners family or something
