My wife picked me up a set of blocks for Christmas, I opened em tonight and decided I would drop the truck tonight... Well as I got the one side apart and started installing the block, the hole on the block was a different size that the stud on the leaf. Has anyone else run into this an if so what did you do? Take em back or make em work?

Mine are like that I just slid them on there and slide the block to the back towards the taillight a tightened my u bolts down nice and snug it's been like that for about seven years on hard auto cross and daily driving no probs yet. No shifting no cracking so if that's any help

U can always change to beef blocks later

I did what you did but it looks to have a gap like the block is sitting at an angle...

Ahhhh ok, was thinking of doing mine mono leaf but I don't have a notch yet. I did the other side and it sits flush now. I HAVE to get a deeper socket for the nuts on the u bolts. They don't seem as tight as I would like them. I got them to he limit of the deep well socket I had. Hope they make em deeper.

I'm not notched but do have some stiff shocks and watch for serious dips in the road but still bang frame and my custom bump stops every now and then they do make super deeps I have a set at work of 8 inch deep sockets for semis but there mad expensive if its possible trim your u bolts up and take some of the unused threads off I did mine with a sazall but a hacksaw will work to

Thanks much for all the quick replies scrub, got it all figured out and the blocks sitting flush. Going to have to take off the bumps for now. They are just resting on them. Was up till 230a last night figuring it out. Now it's time to do the front. Going to start a build thread to keep track of all the things I do in time...

before you guys do anything, put that "bracket" thing on TOP of the block.

    This might look familiar.

what shocks yall run with 4" drop blocks, monoleafed and no notch? i run the cheapy autozone shocks in the back despite the smacking, because i have always been to busy upgrading the front shocks since the front passenger always blows out like every 2 months.
i'd like to get some KGB gas-adjust shocks for the front and back but they arent cheap.

im running stock monroe shocks, just changed em about 3-4 months ago. i will be going to another shock at some point but i have to decide the direction i want to go with the truck. been thinking of a retro deal with air shocks all the way around but then again ive been building bagged cars for quite some time and s=would also like the ease of a one touch auto lvling kit... either way i go i will have to change it out at some point.

also i havent blown a shock on any of mine, id at least pay the extra few dollars. if your paying 40$ a shock every 2 months just spend the money onced and be done. check to see if the shock is hitting something. they shouldnt blow out that quick dropped or not.

its slower than a socket but throw a box end on those nuts and you will be fine. WTF is that bracket? My 77 had no such thing. Not sure if my 83 does either.
