So, it's been done before and yes, it will be done again!

I've been reading threads and builds that people have done with these little trucks and I gotta say, it's been very informative in helping decide how I'll build it. Basically, unless I get my hands on a 1jz swap, it'll stay 22R engine and be a mild build. Looking to get sideways for fun, not necessarily competition.

Ok, I have an 89 ext cab, 2wd, 5spd. So far I've got a MAF adapter and filter , and swapped out the wheels and tires on it for something a little more up to speed (17" Nexo wheels with Hankook tires).

    Future plans will be:

Battery and intake swap with battery moved to bed
    Upgraded clutch and lightweight flywheel
Relocating PS reservoir, coil, and fuse box to cut out wheel wells
    NGK plugs and wires
    Welded diff
    Poly bushings upfront
and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few things

If you have any suggestions for where to relocate the PS reservoir or anything else on the fenders, please feel free to share!!

Build will be slow going since its getting cold and I don't have a garage. :'(

Pic time! Not much, but enjoy.

moving all the crap thats bolted to the fenders gets a little tricky with the more options you have but here is how I did mine

Coil/ random plugs and grounds- relocated to core support next to headlight (make sure it will ground)
Fuse box- also up on core support near the headlight
power steering resv.- get an aftermarket one and bolt it somewhere. (i dont have PS but there are some unused threaded holes on the frame up front you can use)
charcoal canister- thats a tough one i just squeezed mine in

    Thanks guys.

@dagnisaun- I definitely plan on a swaybars, but not sure when I'll get to it.

@gilpet79- Those pics are much appreciated, thank you.

I think I'm going to delete the charcoal canister, so that'll save me a little room. My cruise control don't seem to work, so I'm saying goodbye to it too.

Quick question, for my PS reservoir, does it have to be at or above the pump to function or can I move it down to where there air box used to be?

You want at the highest point possible. This help with flow and heat of the fluid.

Figured as much. Thanks for the answer!! To the firewall it goes, but I gotta make room first.

Plan on getting some vac caps so I can get rid of some vac hoses. I have no emissions here so I'll b deleting the charcoal canister too.

@CinNAMon- That truck is gorgeous. Mine won't look nearly as good. The bed corners by the lights on my bed are dented and rusted. They won't be repaired. Lol.

I got it from eBay. It came as a kit. Install is preschool easy, except I had to drill out the 4 holes that slip over the MAF on the adapter because the were a bit tight. That said, super easy and simple, and $30 shipped. :)

Not a problem. Hope you found what you was looking for!

Ok, so obviously a stock 22re isn't a powerhouse, so I'm thinking about converting to a 22ret. Any suggestions or advice on this? I think I can get a used manifold and turbo for around $300, then all I need is an intercooler, bov, and to run oil lines, etc. (I think.) Do I need to swap computers?

the wiring from your truck and a 22rte truck is different. computer wont work. but the stock 22re comp will work with minimal boost of up to 8lbs ish. if u want the rte computer you need the rte harness also. i know this first hand as my friend had an 22rte and a 22re(89-95) style and the pins were different in the harness. just get a stand alone, megasquirt etc. good luck bro!
