Hey, new guy here from gig harbor, wa. I've had a 87 22r for a whole 6 days now. Just picked it up for some better mileage for a work truck... Love these old trucks. Not my first yota. I've had a 96 Tacoma on 32's and a 78 fj40 bone stock. Miss both of them. I hope I don't get shot for this but I am a die hard air cooled VW guy that likes his yotas. My plan for the truck is to just keep it as machanically sound as possible, bring it down to earth a little more and roll it every day for work. Ill probably have some questions for you guys here and there as I am new to these 22r motors. Although I did spend the day changing belts, radiator hoses, thermostat, temp sender, and front main seal. Did a lot of the research right here off this site that's why I'm here now... To say thanks already. Next weekend I'm hoping to tackle all the vacuum lines as they all look pretty bad.
Welcome! I've been to Gig Harbor to visit some friends. I have family up in King County. I'm the original owner of my truck. My HS friends are amazed that I still have my truck that I first drove to school in Nov, 1981. I can also be a good source for parts. Have fun with your truck!!! Rick
Thanks for the welcome. Rick my brother in law has a 81 that their grandpa bought almost new. I really like those older ones but I came across a good deal on this one. Dannyboy probably won't get that into the truck scene as I spend most of my free time with the vw club I'm part of. We actually have a large part of the club from Lacey. If you ever see a group of Hawaiians rolling bug and busses down in Lacey then that's them! I appreciate the invite though. I'd probably throw more on my plate but I have to juggle my cars while raising soon to be three kids. Wife was due with our 3rd today. Still waiting. Ill get a pick up soon. Nothing special but I love it.
