hello curious if anyone knows if the factory-style rear chrome bumper and black plastic end caps are available like in the sample pics below. Will need for a 1988 xtra-cab longbed restoration project. Any info appreciated. thanks
surprisingly they are not easy to find. I've been looking everywhere for a couple of years (craigslist, ebay, etc). No toyota vendors carry them that I'm aware of as they are not being reproduced anywhere. The front bumper caps are available but not the rears. Will pay top dollar if a set becomes available.
rear bumper o **** i think i finally found a supplier for new stock rear bumpers for 84-8s. last week i made mention and was quoted about 321.
Thats really interesting, I have never seen the rear plastic caps on the sides of a rear bumper, never really paid much attention to them. Hope you find what your looking for. Have you tried the parts department at your local Toyota dealer? Gonna be a little more pricey, but if they had what your looking for maybe it'd be worth it, you would be surprised what they still have or can get. I've ordered quite a few oem parts for my truck through the dealer, I try and get the best deal I can, deal with the same guy everytime, ask if he can do any better on the price and I signed up for a loyalty card for like $30 and I get 10% all parts (only thing I use it for) and labor for as long as I own the vehicle, it has already paid for itself. Have you tried any of the wrecking yards? I know of a Mini Truck yard out down in Oceanside that would have them. A bit of a drive for you but its worth it. Also, remember that rear bumpers back then were an option so you may not be limited from 84-88 pickups having plastic endcap rear bumpers.
The rear bumpers on our trucks was a Toyota "approved" accessory item and not even listed in the parts catalog. Good luck with your search.
