Pleasswe forgive my newbness, in the search for a 5 speed transmission I came across this store on ebay and it has lost of manual trannies, It seems that all the ones for a pickup are 4 speeds, but the descriptions are very vague to me. I was reading in the tech articles about the celica supra and was confused if its just the supra or if a celica transmission will go in. The only thing I was assuming to go by was a w50,w55,w58, but there is nothing of the sort to go by in the description here. School me please:bowdown:!!!I'm assuming any 5 speed bolted to a 22r will surly bolt up and sit under the truck with minor modifications to the x member...

Here is a link to the tranni

Give them an email and see if they can provide any identification and actual pictures of the transmission before you go in.

    1) i wouldnt trust something like a "large" purchase off of ebay.

    2) yes, the supra/celica W55 trans' will bolt right up to the 22r. i currently have a W55 in my truck. came factory like that.

    just my $.03

^^ Thankyou. I figured if it was a supra/ celica, then just a regular celica would work as well if the engines were the same. I'll give them a call and see whats going on with it. But how could they tell me if its a W50,55,or 58?? A stamp in the case or ID tag?

Kinda with tacobo on this one that's a large purchase from ebay especially a 25 year old transmission from an undisclosed doner car can be sketchy as far as a working trans I hope that it would be a good trans and if not they can be rebuilt for fairly cheap .and the trans should have a I'd tag stamped or carved into it saying what w series it is

I would definitely call them and make sure there not a fly by night business

as far as being able to ID the trans, i think there are some differences between the "case" -ie -one is steel n one is aluminum, i think the bell housing material is different. not real sure on this. i've also heard that the shifter housings are different -ie- W55 have 6bolts , the W56+ have 4 bolt housings. also, yes i think there are some markings/ID stamp somewhere (probably on the main housing/center section of the trans) not sure, do some research first n make sure before u drop all 'dem bones for dat trans.

Awesome, Thankyall. I'll give them a call. They have good feedback. I one time had to fork over 3.5k for a transmission on the internet before and it took 2 months for it to be built, but it came through. I was biting my finger nails every day on that one. This one is much lighter to handle but I will absolutly check it out more and more. Thanks again.
