Now that Ive added the 4" blocks to the rear of my truck, Im noticing a ton of axle wrap as well as the rear end wanting to shift side to side during hard cornering.

What Im planning to do is to run a triangulated linkage from the top of the carrier in the center of the axle straight up the center to the cross member of the frame, and also an angled linkage from that same central mounting point on the axle out to the corner where the frame rail meets the cross member.

Everything will be mounted with rod ends and welded thread inserts in the pipe.

Do any of you see any issues with this setup? I know that I would experience some binding with the leaf springs if the suspension were to cycle a bunch. But do you guys think it would be ok for normal street use? I dont think the binding could be any worse then the axle wrap and walk Im already experiencing.

Im an experienced fabricator, but my history with suspension mods are limited at best.

    Any input would be great!

I believe that shaving the blocks to "angle" them could help the pinion angle some.
    How about a sway bar?
I know 4Runners have sway bars.

Run drop springs instead of such tall blocks. Anything else is just a band-aid for bad geometry.

Your leaf springs locate the axle in every direction now. If you add any linkage with a different radius than the leaf springs (from the center of the axle to the center of the forward mounting bolt) you will induce bind. Any bind will be noticeable under all driving conditions.

Drop leaves are your only real fix for both issues, but a three point ladder bar designed correctly (solid mounted on the axle at two points, and shackled at the frame) will solve axle wrap issues.

Even with drop springs, there will still be some side to side movement.

I plan to also be running the drop springs come spring. And i already have yhe blocks that are angled. I guess ill have to look into adding some bands maybe to help stiffen up the suspension.

I have been trying to figure this out as well. I was having a look in the local junkyard and noticed that the ford explorer runs some links from the frame to the top of the axel. And the maybe run a panhard bar like the old muscle cars use. Just an idea
