Ok, I'm starting to turn my attention to under my hood.

Its has a lot of over spray on all of it from my not so good masking job.
Basically i shot the truck in black a few times with the hood off.....:looney:

What can i use to get the paint off without damaging anything?

Will paint stripper damage any hoses or wires?

I was thinking of taking the hood off, covering the fenders, front and windshield with plastic, and soaking the engine bay down with paintstripper.
Or i could thin out some brake fluid and spray it with an old hvlp gun...lol

I also have an electric pressure washer. any hints?

    yeah .. tough one !!

not to many chemicals will remove 1 paint with out affecting another ..

If your luckey the surface undernieth was dirty and the overspray wont stick .. I would try a hi pressure hot/steam washer ..

any why isnt this in the BODY section ? :)

rubbing on surface with a rag soaked with laquer thinner can work, a little less aggressive would be paint reducer or thinner, i use laquer for overspray that happened a whole job, just reducer if i noticed before i cleared it, clay bar for general overspray, or rubing compound.

i wouldn't suggest soaking down underhood with stripper, it would be really hard to get everything painted back so it wouldn't rust.

you could scuff everything and hand apply some kind of paint, i worked in a detail shop back in the day where the guy would take those small foam brushes and do the engine bays with some kind of flat most likely slightly textured black, the exhaust and master cyl. etc. with the new metal looking paint (high temp for the exhaust and stuff) and just took his time and it looked really nice.. if still you have a spray gun and all that from doing the rest of the truck, just tape the top of the hood off and spray the under side.

edit*= i agree with slacker, trying the pressure washer sounds like a great idea.. have a strong enough one and it could take off the factory paint too, lol.. so if it wasn't sanded under there in addition to being dirty, oily, grimy, armor- alled, etc. definetly the easiest approach.
