My first exposure to street trucks was through old school Lowrider mags my uncles would buy and i would try to sneak a pic of the girls  i would see a bunch of dropped chevys and duallys back in the day but i used to think being static was the pre step to getting bagged but soon realized that many people just prefer to be static. i honestly wouldnt mind having both. A static truck for no particular reason and a bagged one just so i can say i have one haha:shrug:

Of course theyre are pros and cons but everyone likes different things even if the thing they like isnt the most functional or most adequate to perform.
It just based on your taste and as someone said above there is definitely a split in scene but bagged or static is all the same :looney: IMO

Our interest of trucks should not split us by suspension or style :waytogo:

I hate static drops! It happens to me all the time at Walmart. I put my comfy Crocs on my feet and go shopping, walk down the isle and stop to look at something, then go back and touch the cart... ZAP! "YYYEEEEEOOOWWWW!" then the static makes me drop a bunch of words that turns the air blue and all the other shoppers are wondering why the deranged guy in the other isle is yelling. :p
Honestly, I come from an old school background (late 80' to mid 90's) when most custom cars and trucks were dropped and if you wanted "adjustable" suspension you had two options: air shocks (more for lifting the back of the car and usually requiring a gas station tire fill station to adjust) or hydralics, which meant pumps, messy fluids and rows of industrial batteries if you wanted the car to lift faster than watching paint dry.
But static drops have always been there. usually the first step in customizing but most stay there to keep the functionality of the vehicle.
As for me? I'm choosing.... Neither. Well, I do want bags, but "helper bags".
Last week I answered an add on Craigslist for decorative/retaining wall bricks that were an awesome deal. 100 in total. "No problem!" I thought. "Lil B (my Toyota) and Hauley (my utility trailer) can do it."
I found the address, paid the guy and then my nephew and I WORKED OUR @$$ES OFF getting the bricks loaded up. Those damn things are heavy!
Truck and trailer were both loaded down with all I would dare load on them, but we got them all in one trip.
My point is, I like the idea of using my truck as... well... A truck! With no drop it will still scrape the hitch in the driveway and on deep dips when loaded down. If I dropped it, the hitch would have to go and if I bagged it all the room in the bed would be taken up with notches and pumps.
However, if choosing between the two, I would want bagged... no static... no bagged... How about a compromise: A static drop, with little bags on each of the body mounts so the body can go up and down. Like an adjustable body lift!

Gotta agree with Bernie on that one. The fab is most of the fun of the build with a bagged vehicle. Blocks and torsion bars are just too darn quick and unadjustable.

As far as bagged trucks not handling well, they can when they're done right.

There aren't a whole lot of ANY type of minis around my area. Most of the shows that I make it to don't have any other trucks at all and I get tons of attention. I love it, my tuner friends.... not so much.

I drive my bagged pickup everyday to work, church, shopping, or whatever... I even haul with it, although mulch, potting soil, sand, speaker enclosures aren't as "cool" to haul as a motorcycle or quad.

If you can do it with a static dropped truck, you can do it with bags. (there's my random thoughts.)

Well sir I would say if you were any kind of fabricator to get on this because you know someone WILL BUY IT!!!!!

As for me I dont think STATIC dropped anything ever went away just the whole bagged thing became a fad that well over looked and over played static drops. Also as far as any kind of club anymore most wont even look at you unless you're bagged. Funny cause a lot of these clubs were around before bags were even a thing to do to your ride. After my countless years with my dad having a static dropped chevy and my bro having a LUV and my first s10 being that way It almost makes me sad my truck is bagged cause I enjoy the "OG style". Thats why Im turning my truck more towards that direction and not doing a bodydrop anymore or Z'ing the frame cause it almost gives the appearance of a badass static.

HOWEVER... I know this thread is old but to Nvrenufedge aka DAVE....You got a freakin 4x4 anyway so hahahahhahahah:nana::lol::D

Thats what I like about the truck crews in hawaii, its all about trucks. Most times it doesn't even matter if your bagged or not. As long as its a sickk looking truck, bagged, static or even lifted its going to have a lot of attention!

Thanks! Just wait til it is bagged, then you all will have nothing to talk about!

Its good to see all of you post your opinions on this. I have seen some statics in the "Ridin' Around" section of MT lately. I know alot of people run a static truck for a daily, wheather they've always had it or just missed it and built one. But I was mainly talking about trucks you see at shows or in the show coverage in the mags.

My truck is still static dropped and am now a proud member of =SunSet= Idaho, but it will be bagged soon (I hope). I have all the equipment, just waiting to get another ride cause it is my daily right now. I plan on making the truck look old school, just bagged.
