Yes it will effect your MPG, and you cannot just run that cam by itself, you have to put dual valve springs in with it, or else you are going to float valves and break your motor. Also what intake/carb are you running, motors are like a big air pump, if you cant get air in and out fast you cant make HP. Having all exhaust but no intake is not going to help at all.

So in short, what else are you planning on running with those mods?

That .455 lift is a pretty mild cam I believe its a 238 or a 248.You will feel a slight difference on your low end and mid range power band with the 238 and an overall better performance with the 248. As for the duel valve springs I was running a 280 Comp cam(with the 32/36 Webber) with a bigger lift I think around.500 for a long time with out the duel springs. Granted I was not really jamming on it but after installing a 292 and side drafts I bent a valve and upgraded to the LCE dual springs. The headers also make a slight difference but Is a crucial part in a complete power upgrade. For sure makes a difference on your mpg. A lighter flywheel makes a big difference.

    lc 280 cam

I ran the lc 280 cam 460 lift....with stock valves, springs. ... For about 5 years..
With 40's Italian solex side drafts.. and headman headers... I believe you can use the Lc
285cam also with stock valves and stock springs.... But anything bigger on the lift
You would need to upgrade on the valves and springs to accomodate for the lift...
Dual valve springs and lc stainless steel valve with chromoly retainers or titanium... And also lc pro valve guides.... Got em all for 260 total from lc.... Well worth it if your going
Bigger... As for the 280 cam it made a little difference in horsepower... If its setup right.. and finetuned.... Didn't notice the gas going down as much... Felt like stock for me... But it just could be me.... Right now I upgraded to a 292 web cam...ported my head. By me lol.. bigger sidedrafts... And can feel the horsepower on the topend and mids... U can really feel the fuel intake on this setup.... Gas guzzler.....
    Esta laterz........
