Yeah, I'm not saying might won't be bagged sometime down the road. I just think its funny that Mini Truckin says static is back, thinking of the show scene. But they're not. IMO

I don't even read Mini - truckin, I can't stand it. I hate trailer queens and I hate perfect trucks. I am a part of this forum because you guys are not the typical truck guys. I can't stand the trucks that the mags feature, sure they look pretty, and I am sure they do what they were built for. Hard Core Parking. You see it all in the mags, 5k plus in the suspension, awsome tube and frame work and a stock engine. :doah: Those trucks are slow as ****, big 20 inch wheels and alot of weight, stock geared and stock power. Maybe just a shiny intake tube and a painted valve cover. Not very fun.

So the truck world is split into groups, the show crowd and the performance crowd. Just like every car group, the ricers and the racers. You see it in every group, the hot rods, exotics, and now trucks.

So in a way the static trucks are back. Every group went through this, years ago if you took your home built hot rod to a show, they would not let you in, they'd laugh at you for even trying to bring that pos in. Now there is a whole scene, they even have categories for them at the bigger shows, they call em Rat Rods.

So what will happen to our scene is basically going to be the same. It is just natural progression, you can only bag a truck a couple ways, you can only make a frame a couple ways. What happens when you run out of interesting ways to do a frame ? Watch, it will happen. Our scene will shift from the show trucks to the daily rides w/ nice classic lines and a touch of custom. Static dropped and functual.

Hell what's his name, the guy w/ the hydro's on our board, w/ the Gudlux or something. He got a mag feature and his is just a very stock Hilux w/ a small suspension setup.

And we all ready have a leg up on the comp. Nothing says vintage cool like a nice static dropped truck w/ a 20 / 22 r and side drafts.

So don't fret guys, we are just a bunch of over achiever's that are ahead of the game.

Thank you for reading my novel

I see everyones point and i dont choose sides. I love static drops. But i also love bagged trucks. Trucks in magazines i like just because of the work that goes into them. i admire work no matter how small or major it is. Just some things now a days are just goin over board.

i personally am guna bag my truck down the road. Mainly so i can drag it. I dragged my friends hardbody and had the biggest cheeser after. Im guna build it to be functional. I like the adjustability of bags but i know im not guna be the d!ckhead at a read light ******* with the bags.

Having it at a height where it just looks static is fine with me. I dnt need everyones attention. I made my last car look the way i wanted it and got very little attention until after i sold it:rolleyes:

so my yota is guna get the same treatment. Nothing too flashy just a nice retro look with alot of modern tech, starting with the stock MFI

Its not that I'm choosing sides, cause I like both has well. I just think as far as the show scene statics are not back. Its too hard for a static dropped truck to compete with a bagged and bodied truck.

I get what youre saying. I just dint want anyone to think i meant bagd is better if my post sounded anything like that. It would be nice to see a static truck compete against a bagged one. Everyone goes straight to bagging since thats theyre intention from what ive seen.

Im still waiting to drop mine ima go as low as i can without fukkin sh!t up. In the meantime im guna do body work, interior, some electrical all while i try to save up for bags

I found this to be one of the most interesting conversations on here in quite awhile and i just can't let this one die, so i thought i'de BUMP it up for those who have'nt checked it out yet and to try and keep it goin'... I prefer static drop over bags ... I still have the lowered look and more money to put into makin' it look good with it bein' my daily and all ... For me, static never left ... I've had my share of bagged & bodied trucks and i'm well aware that static doesn't get the attention that a bagged does at these shows but just call me old scool then 'cause i love my static ...

I like static dropped trucks, & rolled mine like that for 4 years. But adjustable suspensions are a lot better as no bottoming out on speed bumps & driveways!!
    I would never go back!!!

I like both. Bagged truck are cool and i'm always fascinated with all the work that goes into them...but im more of a performance/functional guy. I think static trucks will always be the one youll see on a daily basis but wont be in mags untill theres a performance scene for minis...

My truck is not my daily driver,( show this truck on a regular basis )though I drive it a few times a week. I know a lot of people who do drive bagged trucks daily!
I just took my truck on a 100 drive last Friday just to shake down a problem I was working on. And yes my truck is a performance build ride, a LC Pro Street EFI , with all the extras LC recommended powers it, & a 5 speed manual trans with a Pro Street clutch & 9.5 lb flywheel get the power where it needs to be.
Today or tomorrow I'll be driving it on another long run to the south bay & back.
If built right bagged trucks or cars are just has dependable as any other!

Isn't minitrucks a big family? I say they are both awesome in their own way, but I do agree, the static trucks have kind of gotten the shun from the bagged, body dropped, 20+ inch Raceline, but other wise stock trucks of the last 5 years really. I'd love to bring the 90's/early 00's back with truck shows, (i'm talking about the getting together, no matter what you have) have both the same amount of static to bagged ratio. Get back to what it was about, not to please forums, magazines, certain people, etc. but to build trucks to express yourself and have a good time with other guys/girls that share the same passion with minitrucks.

I say we need to make this happen, all the static guys just keep going to shows and maybe the "static trucks are coming back" will actually be for real now:waytogo:

Also what I said up there, about no matter what you have just meeting up, nowadays Hondas are their own section, the 240 drifter guys are seperate, the Audi/VW guys are seperate. They used to all be together, no sections, just IMPORT. I know a few VW guys that started out in the minitruck scene and then got the influences put on their VW's.

I don't think that static is making a comeback because it never left. Magazines have just made air ride the norm. Personally, I just like to ride as low as I can. I like both static and adjustable. Not all roads are good for extremely low static rides and that is where bags do come in handy. However, after you have driven enough lowered vehicles, you learn what to watch for and how to maneuver around obstacles. My civic is lowered on coilovers as low as I comfortably could and I have trouble entering and leaving my driveway without bottoming out. My truck...I just hit a switch!
