watsup peoples. just bot a 94 4x2 pickup. gonna need lots of help. trying to stay "stock/sleeper" style. not gonna do the 4x4 swaps or anything like that. just all factory OEM stuff (minus the chrome). gonna need lots of help n tips to get her running cherry. so far, having brake issues (iffy fix), possible front wheel bearing issue (minor fix) , n then swap timing chain for double (from LCE) - just trying to get her squared away n running solid. then ima try squeeze more flintstone pedal power from the 4banger. feel free to offer some advice. Thanks ima try post some pics once i get the hang of this site.
Welcome to Tm have u done the regular tune ups cap rotor wires plugs fuel filter the 22re can be juiced up a bit and still retain a stock drivability a quality header and exhaust/ intake can get u some extra hp a small cam for low and mid range can get you moving off the line a little quicker . Most of these mods are low cost with exception of the header depending on wich brand .
thanks man. -havent checked the plugs yet. wires looked pretty "recent" . the cap/rotor about 60-70% wear. had to pull it off to try n set the timing. its way way off. had to put distributor to MAX advance to get it timed, but its still a few degrees out. needs chain bad, making slapping noise inside the cover like 2 skeletons ****in on a tin roof! it starts right up, like a champ. but kinda boggs when u wanna go WOT. havent really drove it on the street (brake issues) n not registered yet. i do plan to get LC double chain kit (to fix timing issue). later on, some DT long tube headers, flowmaster. n possible LCE pro-cam stage 2 or something, not too agressive, but good enuf to lump a little on the street.
i just need to make a laundry list (n i know its gonna be a long one, just on engine mods alone) of stuff i need to get done first, then "fun" mods later. i was thinking MSD coil, flowmaster 50 series. -to start.
here are some pics. i just recently only removed the rear chrome bumper. just didnt like it. n i cleaned the TB (n idle screw port). there looked to be about 20 yrs of carbon build up inside. felt like i was diggin through bernie mac's butt hole!
Skeletons fkn on a tin roof lmao yea clean it out throw on all the necessary tune up parts I'd fix that chain ASAP it will eat thru timing cover and coolant and oil will mix and that's no good
Welcome! You're going to like hanging out with us. Lots of good info. Good looking truck. You can get the black mirrors from Toyota or the aftermarket and replace the chrome ones. I would also take off the Toyota oval emblem off the grille to keep it all black up front. Either remove the rear bumper and drive it like that or locate a black powered coated one. I like the fact that you are trying to keep the stock/sleeper look. My truck has some exterior add-ons & go fast goodies under the hood & Recaro seats, but it is mainly all factory looking. Let us know if we can be of further help! Rick
lol yup, si frankie boy (Crank) is here for now. training, was on the show but didnt do so well. no matter, he's in the "rebuild" stage... stronger, faster. ya i am very aware of this. i too hope to avoid the real-life "exploded-view" of my motor. im not driving it every day, sits at the shop for now. just trying to fix little things here n there, get'em out of the way. yup, cool man. as for the mirrors n stuff, ya been doing some research n pricing on stuff, found a bunch. i wanna do all black, no chrome. but would like to keep the "T" logo in front grill just to show/pay my respects lol i have bench seat, definitely keeping that. makes the GF sliding over a bit more easier lol i'm just dreading the body work. there are a couple big dents, n a few dings (but they all add up) like Jared's (from subway) backnee when he looked like the michelin man's twin.
Ya everybody over so proud of you guys doin your thing over there.I saw the fight he did good. The black dude had some super unleaded gas nai. Its cheaper over there thats why.lol Shoots.
welcome bruh. think you will have her drivable enough for next month? uncle (wifes) throwing a home away from home bbq for those who transfered to here from the islands. ill get the flier and toss it up here.
... in Nov? ya for sure umbee. well she is drivable now as is, but idk for how long/reliable. first major work i need to do is get my new timing chain on. should get it in n done in 2 weeks. then fix the brake issue. need to wait for payday nai lol
cool cool cheluprimpar lol lania, need to start hanging out wiff da boyz guam sa dei kno more tricks umbee. n i need to find a good cheap body guy/shop that can fix my truck. that or just find a new decent bed.
prim i was looking at your bed and it solid....not bad...a but if u decided to get rid of your rims let me sa i love old skool rims...
lammeee lai chelu i got better pic of the bed, u mite change ur mind on the condition. just need to post them. idk if they old school, they prob off a early 90's ford ranger looks like. but if u like them, maybe we trade ...??
shet man. so i tried to do a little tune up. truck was running fine. -cleaned throttle body + idle screw passage, new EAF. ran slightly ruff due to DECARB chemical i ran through the engine. -decided to check/set timing (cuz i seen the distributor was set all the way "ADVANCED"). -----is this correct ---- distributor turned all the way clockwise = ADVANCE -----when turned all the way counter = RETARDED ??? anyways, timed it as best -ended up about 12deg BTDC. -is the best i can get it at. i had a buddy double check my work -is ok, as best. drove it for a little n i noticed started to run ruff. so i decided to mess with timing again, now its way off n way worse. i tried to get it back to where i had originally set it, but still runs ruff. i changed spark plugs -from DELCO to now running DENSO. they were fouled. so now its running like ****. i may have to check the compression n the valve adjustment. Overall I feel like i ****d myself over by trying to fuss with it. now im in a bigger hole. *** bottom line, it was running fine till i ****ed w it. FLM*** also, just ordered the LCE Dual Timing Chain conversion kit. hope this helps, i know engine needs it cuz i hear it slapping the cover. any thoughts or suggestions......?
compression...? i didnt check. but it was running good before i started "projek" fix up wiff it nai . im just frustrated cuz im lazy n i wanted it to just run. now i gotta chase down the prob. lol ya i know i have to check compression n valves to start. prob after i put in LCE chain kit -so i know for sure dass cherry nai
