About a week ago on my way home from work I got hit. It was raining like crazy and the guy hydroplaned and hit my passenger side rear corner like a P.I.T. maneuver. It caused me to spin out and slam into a guard rail down the drivers side of my truck. It was raining so hard plus some crazy a$$ lightning that the cop didn't even survey the damage on my truck. He took my paper work and hid inside his patrol car,did his thing and ran over to me in the truck and passed me my paper work back through my window. He said your case number is in there. So I looked in my sh!t and found a series of number he had wrote on the back of one of MY papers. I said He's at fault right? He said ya he's in violation. So to make a long story short now I'm worried that the insurance company will give me a hastle about the damage on the truck. Lucky my friend is a cop. I asked him to check it out and hopefully it goes well.Anyways due to the fact my truck is an 87 I'm thinking the insurance might just total my truck and give me the blue book value which is sh!t compared to what i've put into it. On Guam it is extremely hard to find cherry beds for this year of truck. Most of them have been bondoed to the extreme. I was lucky enough to find one but for a hefty price. The guy was asking $1000 so I went to check it out and it was nice but not $1000 nice so I bartered with him ang got two nice fenders and the bed for $900. It's an 85 bed but it's kinda weird. It doesn't have bed panels or the tabs that you would mount them too. It also doesn't have the hooks or tie downs on the corners. The guy said he painted the bottom and found a sticker that said Canada on it. So I don't know????? Now the plan is to work out the insurance thing and hopefully get a shop to do the work with my new bed and try to get a paint job out of it. Here's pics of the crash and new bed.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Sucks to here that man but from the pic the new bed looks good I'd say you got the hardest part to find outta the way ..and the insurance company would have to fight tooth and nail to tell me there totaling it out ..if u mention lawyer on the phone with them they usually change there tone they'd rather toss up the extra money then drag it out on paper work and phone calls ...speaking from experience with my azzhole insurance company ...good luck

Here a pic of the bed with no tabs for mounting the bed panels and no tie downs. Has anyone seen a bed like this before?[IMG]

Thanks for all the love guys. I forgot to mention I had already paid for a 92 hilux (a couple months before the crash)from a friend who was leaving island. He was scheduled to leave in Nov. and I told him to use the truck till then so I have been prepping for that. I got a cherry bed, front end, replacement fuel tank(his has holes) and rims. I explained my situation about using my chicks car to work and how difficult it was with the kids in school and all so he is giving me the truck next week fri. I will throw up some pics of that project. It should go pretty fast since I have been prepping for a couple months now. My intention was to let the 87 rest for a while and go to body and paint and daily the 92. I also have a 4x4 project that is pretty much done just need to swap out the clutch. It got stuck for some reason.

Sorry about your truck, but good your OK!
They will total it! The removal of the inner fenders is the time killing factor & the fact that is a early truck!
This was the the same with my 86 2wd truck, ( a lot of years ago) & high book on it was $3,800 which they get not want to give me! I did get it after a long battle !!
    Good luck !!

Roger that chelu. I think the skins have been replaced on this bed because none of the seams have seam seal. I gotta go around and seal everything.

Yo so I Just got back from the insurance adjusters place they blue booked my truck at $700. I was like $700 are you ***** kidding me.She said thats even with the high side of the value. She also said for me to keep my truck they would pay me %80 of the blue book which is like $500 sum.I was like $500 wont even replace the front end. I told her I cannot accept that. Do I need to get a lawyer or something? Oh sorry sir I can tell you take care of your truk. I understand. I said you have no idea what I have put into this truck so you dont understand.I will not accept this. I need my truck to be the way it was before this guy hit me. So she said she is going to talk to her boss and see if they can offer me more. Does anybody have any advice for me on this.I'm totally getting screwed here.

I def would not except that I would explain to them the truck was restoration project that u have spent countless dollars on restoring two its original state . And that the blue value doesn't apply in this situation . And you need to be compensated for your time and money .. Sense the damage was done by some one else who was at fault they need to be held accountable for your expenses in repairing the vehicle ....I no dealing with ins company's sucks all they see is numbers not blood and sweet . I no from dealing myself stay bossy on the phone and don't let them mole u over a lawyer will cost u money I would just try to squeeze a number out of them like 1500 see what they say theyllprobably drop u after this like mine did bunch of asses

UPDATE.Just got off the phone.with the insurance adjusters. They said they went ahead and waived the 10% per year depreciation value and now my truck is worth about $1550. WTF Thats more then double the initial ammount.What. a fuggin scam.So in order.for me to keep the truck they will give me 80% which is $1225.I am happy to atleast get this.I should be able to replace fenders hood grill valance etc.Lucky I snatched up that cherry bed.
