Update! I got the head back in (shaved the surface a little and installed a LCE adjustable cam gear). so my list of engine mods are: 22re bore .040, port and polished head, LCE over sized valves, street performer springs, adjustable cam gear, head resurfaced, trd stage 1 cam LCE ceramic coated header, crane cams ignition kit, i just franken metered my afm using an 86 cressida afm(big 3" bore in and out). i have a 1990 22re upper intake plenum that I bored out to fit the 5mge tb. I also installed a w58 trans from an 85 celica. The truck really hauls. I also started mocking up the BMW rack and pinion. So far it fits like it was meant to be LOL! The only problem i foresee is the steering shaft and header fighting for position.
I've been working on it. I need to post some progress pics. I got the z done, I have to redo my upper a-arms... To much negative camber so the 20's were hitting the brake booster. I lowered the engine by fabricating dropped engine mounts. I also fabbed a transmission cross member. I got the new core support installed and I have one wheel tub for the front just about fully welded in. I'm working on the rear of it as I type this. Hopefully my 4 link lower tabs come in Monday, so i can finish the rear! I will try to load pics soon! Thanks for checking in on me!
Lets see if this works! Newer intake plenum with 5mge tb! http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc6/s720x720/208857_468345016517466_1712891040_n.jpg
The last two pics are with the 20" steelies! I'm now uncertain if I want to go with the 20's or keep the 18" steelies on her...
I need to get better pics when its daylight. I relocated the clutch master cylinder underneath the dash using info and pics from Burnzya (Bernie Harper). I will be using a remote reservoir from either a ford (ranger or explorer) or an s-10. The engine compartment is painted using por15 and under coating (for the very lower section). Its been tubbed and the wiring harness runs along the inside of the fenders (I didnt have to make it longer). The rear gets crazy articulation (hopefully i will be able to do a standing 3 wheel).
Update! I moved to a new state (Lafayette, Indiana) due to the birth of my twin boys! Been busy with them so I haven't finished the build. I'm just about done, but I start school next week (certified welder) so hopefully I have it done by Camp and Drag.
En route to the new lab Laying frame on 225/40/18 Sectioning the truck tool box that will house my hydraulic setup and batteries Pump and battery rack Laying frame on 225/35/20 I love the look of the 20's so I guess I will be selling my 18" steelies!
I also have more pics on my camera (engine and engine bay, my taillights and door panels). I will upload them soon!
