well, i think this was done when the previous owner did the 4Runner front end conversion. my cruise control switches are on the steering wheel. i think i also have a 4runner gauge cluster. anyways, the cruise light comes on with the switch every time, but the set button only works when it wants to, therefore making using the CC a shot in the dark. any ideas?

oh and the CC generally WILL NOT work when its the least bit moist outside (heaven forbid rain or snow.)

I found my cruise control issue (20 years ago) to be a bad clutch switch. Yes, my 1982 has the optional cruise control that Toyota offered starting in the 1982 lineup.

I used the test procedure outlined in the Toyota Factory repair manual where it required to pull the wiring harness off the cruise control computer. There are about 10 tests. See if you can locate a manual for your year or search online.

    Good Luck!

1993 Toyota Pickup Service Manual this is an online manual, might have the CC option in it but not certain.. Either way a great link to bookmark... Oh and yes it says 93 but should work for 89-95 models...

There are also clutch & brake switches (behind the pedals) that also go bad. Check on these!!!
