I recently got a '77 pickup and long story short; it needs work.
But I'm excited to dig into the 20r.
Either way I'm wondering about pro's, con's, personal opinions, stories...Whatever you peeps have to say about your setups or past setups.

Any advice would be great. I'm going for a reliable daily with some poke.
Future list of parts to follow the carb are header, exhaust, and possibly a cam.

    Much appreciated. Thanks!

If you are going to leave the motor stockish I would use a weber 32/36. Best bang for the buck.

Yea I'd go with the 32/36 I like Holly carbs because of there huge aftermarket support but toyotas and webers go hand in hand and you'll get better mileage from the weber do to its 80% percent idle drive circuit which the holly doesn't have to my knowledge

agree with these guys, a 38 will KILL your MPG for a daily driver. both barrels on the 38 open at the same time where as your on the 32 side untill you really step on the gas then the 36 opens up also.

i have a 38. i get 20 mpg daily with a header and edelbrock intake and a mild cam. Its does not change even with 1500 lbs on a trialer over washington pass i still got 20 mpg. A buddy have a holley and he got 21-23mpg if he stayed out of it. On the throttle he got 18
