Aghh! Unfortunately there are no new updates. I replaced most of the interior that got damaged from the theft. No more stacker console and no subs, but other than that its mostly complete, just been driving it everyday. Having to redo the interior and the thought of having to redo the sub box has put a serious damper on any future mods. For the time being the truck looks good from 50 ft and drives good, so i think its gonna stay like that for a while. In the meantime I need to get crackin on my Tacoma DCups stopped by last weekend and i got to take a ride in the 'Runner - Gave me some good inspiration and reminded me of how much I miss boost!!
Ok guys - Decided to put my Taco up for sale and it is officially gone as of last night. Sad day, but now all my attention is going to be directed at the Yellow truck. Stay tuned...
Been busy with other things, but picked up something last night... <a href="http://s539.photobucket.com/albums/ff351/twinturbotaco/2BY/?action=view&current=Untitled.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i539.photobucket.com/albums/ff351/twinturbotaco/2BY/Untitled.jpg" border="0" alt="Untitled"></a>
Good ****!!!.. Go single before u put the motor in and save yourself the headache later on! Lol if thats what you want to do.. Stock twins on a 2j can get u in the 400whp category tho
Still lots of work before its ready to go in, gotta build up the truck so its ready for that much weight and power first No plans to go single yet. I like the twins - sequential on the street is tons of fun. Unfortunately whoever had this motor before decided to make it permanently true twin and threw all the sequential stuff away, so im gonna have to track that down.
Well do not expect to have them last too long. I would start asap to save up to go single. Do a treadstone cast manifold and a journal bearing turbo not something too big and you will be good!
Yeah, Probably a SP Billett 6262 if I ever go single, but the truck needs a million other things before I get to that point. I'll prolly throw on some USDM twins and a meth kit when the Aristos give out. I'd really like to do the S4S BNR Hiflow to the JDM twins, but I cant find any info on whether or not they have the boost loss during the sequential transition that the GT28 and USDM Hiflowed ones do. I rode in Stu Hagen's Supra back when he was still running stock USDM twins and had just broke over 500whp with stock turbos and that thing was a killer on the street. Last I heard he was somewhere around 630whp with his sequential GT28s. At first those guys had serious boost drops when the 2nd turbo came online, they finally figured out how to fix it, but the sequential system is set up a little different on the JDMs. But for now I'm going to try to keep the output stock until I get the rest of the truck - brakes, suspension, etc set up.
Ok Update time- So the 2JZ that I posted a pic of ended up having a multitude of problems. Melted coil packs, blown HG, hacked wiring, etc.. So rather than dumping more $ into only to find out it has fried rings or something like that, I'm parting it out. Still worth way more in pieces than what i paid for it anyways - so that works. I've thought long and hard about swapping in another 2J, but I just don't think that's the direction I want to go in anymore. Granted I want power, but I want to be able to turn as well! I consider the truck to be fairly nimble as is and I would hate to lose that with all the additional weight of the 2J. I have some ideas kicking around, we'll see where this goes. In the meantime, I've been working out some kinks and replacing/upgrading the stolen stereo.
While the last stereo that I had in here looked great, it was more show than go. The headunit was ok, components ok, and shallow mount subs severely lacking low end. So I picked up a Pioneer 80PRS, Massive Audio Components, Image Dynamics 5 Channel amp, and pulled one of my new old stock Soundstream subs out of storage. First thing first is the soundstream 10 likes 1.25ft ported, so gotta make room for that! Now I have room to extend the cab into the bed area. On a side note, with a 7" bob and 6" out of the front of the bed the hauling capacity has certainly gone down.
Built the box and fiberglassed all seams and coated all MDF with resin, then vinyl on the front. cut cut cut Test fit box in hole
Built a metal box around sub box and welded it in - sub box is not in there at this point, wasn't trying to weld on top of wood, haha. Primer and seam seal with windshield urethane dynamatted the inside, slid the sub box in, secured with screws thru metal, urethane over screws, then coat everything with bedliner.
