I wasn't planning on changing out my bumper but seeing as today is the 2nd time a woman has backed up into my parked truck I kinda need to now..

So I always liked the new style bumper I think its the 90s style pickups that have it like this. http://images1.americanlisted.com/nlarge/1991_toyota_pickup_deluxe_18194855.jpg

Same bumper but with out the middle holes. I just want to make sure I can order one and it will bolt perfect on my 88? I also rather use my old style valence, so hopefully there is no issue with that.

I think the newer style bumper would look good but i would go with the newer valence too ... I would also start parking in a different spot ... lol ...

Looks like your in the same boat as i am, except i never got hit, anyways my truck is an 86 model and i bought a 94 bumper, it will not bolt right up, sorry to tell you that, i think there are 2-3 companies (last time i checked) that made an adapter bracket, mine is not mounted yet and i did not see a good safe trustworthy way to modify brackets to make them fit, remember just because it bolts up doesn't mean it can support impact properly without crushing, here is the one i'm currently looking to order.

I just ordered some of the Cando brackets on Friday, hopefully they will be here within the next week. Hopefully you can find a good deal on a newer bumper if you decide to go that route. Paid over twice for the Cando brackets as i did the new bumper.

also, i later realized that the link i provided does show the part, however, it looks to be an outdated version of the site, http://www.candospecialties.com/ is the current address.
