I picked up a this 85 in feb. for $600 thinking it wouldn't need much to get it to daily driver status... I was wrong.

    Replaced/ Fixed:
    Timing set
    Timing cover
    Water pump
    Oil pump
    Clutch
    Pressure plate
    Flywheel
    Throw out bearing
    Pilot bearing
    Front wheel bearings and seals
    Windshield
    Full tune up
    Replaced most gaskets in engine
    Installed Rebuilt Weber 32/36 Carb
    Stripped Interior due to... grossness
Replaced all the front end plastics and bumper
Hammered out the rad support and driver wheel well.

Ended up failing 3 emissions test, finally passing on the 4th after intalling the weber :eyecrazy:

But now that the mechanical stuff is finished I can finally begin the fun modifications.

    So far:
    15x8 et:0 aluminum wheels
    185/55/15 tires
4" home made aluminum blocks with 5/8" grade 8 U-Bolts
    Torsion Bar crank
    All red tail lights
Tinted windows (not perfect but my first time doing it)
80's SR5 Tercel wagon bucket seats
    Wood Superior steering wheel

I'm planning on leaving the "Patina" but adding my logo to the door or bed, finish the 100% coverage sound deadening, Black suede interior, Full stereo, HID's, a few more engine goodies, and so on.

Here's a couple of pics to show the dramatic difference.

The p.o. Never cleaned out the bed so there is rust on both sides at the pinch weld and in the bed floor otherwise is clean. Surprised when I pulled the carpet considering the clutch master popped a few years ago and he never cleaned the fluid off the floor. Its getting a lot of looks in traffic now, not what I'm used to after driving a stock accord for 2 years.

Funny thing, they're actually not staggered. There's a pretty good amount of camber in the front so the top of the tire is tucked in a little more. The rear pass wheel is a little more shiny compared to the rest so that may also help the look. My intention is to remove the crappy clear coat on the wheels and get down to the raw polished aluminum.

As for the interior. I'm working on it right now.

I'm doing as much black suede as possible. That bow headliner is a bitch, hope it turns out ok once its stretched.

But here's a picture of the old interior.

Now you know why I stripped it.

Ill get some pictures up tonight of my recent progress. Haven't had much time to cruise the internet between pinstriping, car shows, organizing a show (strshow.com), and fixing all the random issues with this truck.

    Ok... here we go.

The last 2 weekends i've mostly been doing repairs, it is old i guess (my girlfriend hates it). Weekend before last I was on my way to a BBQ and the truck died while cruising along. Diagnosed it down to the Ignition control module but tried the coil first with a nice new Accel super stock coil and then picked up an EFI ICM from a generous guy that lives near me. After that, my girlfriend and I were on our way to a car show in south denver and hit a huge bump on I-25, it hurt but didnt think much of it until the drive home when we heard scraping.

    Crap.

    But i had these.

So all was good. Until this weekend when my alternator started shoving 19 volts into my gel cell battery. 80 bucks and 30 min later, all was good again. This truck doesn't like me having free weekends.

Here are some more random pictures of my progress since i've owned the truck.

    Before the work started.

It helps to know people with parts. Next I need to get the oil pressure gauge to work. I pulled a sending unit out an 80's supra bit not sure its the right one.

The seats came out of a mid 80's Toyota trecel 4x4 sr5 wagon. They sit a little high bit they're comfortable, I had them in my 88 4x4 as well.

If done a few small things to my truck over the past couple of months.
Starting with an ammunition style bed box made from cedar.

Hood wrap. $7 worth of shelf liner from home depot.

Full coverage sound deadening in both doors with sound deadening for vapor barrier.

Then seal it all up with a black suede door panel.

    Traditional "YO" on the tailgate.

Turning out to be a pretty good work truck.

May have a few things in the works for this truck. Notch, because the frame hits the axle all the damn time. Ladder rack and cutting mat bed cover, because I'm a sign guy. Maybe a few other things... I keep you updated.
