but yeah anyway, I'm picking up a bagged 1990 from a buddy of mine for cheap. but it has some issues! It runs and drives great , but from the looks of it I"m going to have to re-do the bag set up. I need as much info as I can get. I have been researching the forum for a few weeks now. so I kind of have an idea of where I want to go with it. I'm thinking I want to run a bag on bar set up maybe getting away with modding the current links?

The body is in alright shape I'm getting her for $600 for it the way it sits. it has a bed but has been hacked on the inside pretty bad. I'm more worried about the bag set up, from what i have read the bag over axle is not the way to go?

Id buy it for $600. Welcome to TM by the way! Nice to see another bagger in the making and someone willing to fix someone elses mistakes. My opinion after looking at your photos.
    1. You already have a 4runner bumper/valance with 4wd fenders so a 4wd or 4runner grille/headlights/and corner lights will work its your preference on what you like better. Id stick with 93 and up 4runner the headlights sit flush with the grill it look nice.
    2. It seems there are only 2 bars for your link and reverse ones at that, Id totally fix or add to that setup, to each his own on reverse vs forward links but you need something more than just to bars, not only for safety but for stability, traction, and driveability purposes.
    3. Unless the bed is hacked in pieces Id just re-sheet metal the bed with a raised floor or something, it will save time and money trying to find a decent bed at a good price which in all honesty your going to have to cut up anyway to fit over the notches.
    4. Bag over bar, yah its not the best Id go bag behind axle if your keeping reverse link or if you raise or remove your gas tank and do a traingulated forward or a wishbone or panhard link then you can keep the gas tank stock and hopefully get away with bag on bar infront of axle.
    5. BUILD A BRIDGE!!!!!!!!! There is no stability back there between the notches and I dont like that at all I recently seen a hacked s10 at a show go to drag and watched his frame railes bend out because there was nothing holding it together.
    6. Have fun and dont get discouraged, Id say if you got good fab skills or friends who do and are willing to help for a beer or a burger then I cant imagine it costing more than a $1000 to get that thing looking and driving real good. So for $1600 you'd have a pretty neat ride thats setup correctly and ready to cruise down the street

Thanks For the good info euro freak. love your build thread btw. all 4 Link bars there, you just cant really see the lowers in the picture. if you look at the last pic you can kinda see the end of the bar under the frame on the left side. A bridge was already in the plans . I like the idea of a reversed bag over bar set up. . I noticed you cut your link bars and fabbed a bag mount on to it. I was thinking of doing the same thing. The main thing is i want it to be safe I dont want it falling apart while im driving to a show. lol.

My link was a pre-fab with specific dimensions from CanDo which he fukd up royally. I had already waited 3 months to get it so I wasnt about to send it back to be fixed so me and a buddy used the components of it and built our own. Since the wall thickness was not what I asked for we had to build gussets for the bottom bars along with new bag mounts for it as well. The upper bars we already planned on cutting and adding that bend to clear the bags. Safety is a HUGE factor in all the the things i build wether its a truck or a race car. I can say without a doubt my rear frame and the 4 link is probably twice as strong as stock. Cant wait to see your progress!!
