Well, yes. I know which CEL it is though, and the check engine light stays on at all times. It's a good reminder to check the engine though. Haven't missed an oil change since it came on....
Litneon - I know this is an old thread but thanks for the great info. Plan on doing this to mine soon!
Im glad too see this thread pop up again so now I dont have to search for it. After swapping my intake pipe to pass side I realized after running wires and such that all that stuff does look horrible sitting on top the VC. Im going to do this starting after work tonight. My state went to doing emmissions every 2 years so gives me plenty of time to drive around lookin good. I will keep everything though and come emmissions time just hook it all back up. Im going to have to find a stock intake pipe anyway cause my short ram doesnt have that small little bypass hose from the canister to the pipe I jsut have a filter and they failed me visually last time.
Those are Cando's arms, although Steve has sold the shop and it's called something else, you can still get them.
Thanks for the heads up. I found their website under KBS fab, those upper control arms go for a lot huh
Yep, they aren't cheap, but they come as a full upper and lower kit allowing the removal of the forward tie rod and bushing brackets.
Lit, have you seen this done to the 22R? I have a 78 with a 22R swapped in it and I wanted to do this to it.
If anything all I need are the uppers, I already have the DJM lower control arms on. Are you running stock spindles or drop ones?
Nice write up and pics!...This is exactly what I needed to see. Getting ready to do the same to my truck next week and add new LCE headers.
I read that a 10k resistor in the plug that used to goto the EGR temp sensor will keep it from throwing a cel code for EGR.
When I removed my stuff, I didn't get any CEL codes and adding a 10k resistor rarely does what "they" say in automotive situations. Supposedly it'll fool the computer in place of the O2 sensor, fool the computer in place of the TPS, ect. ect.... If it is truly a temp sensor, you'll need to know what temp it's supposed to be seeing and figure out what the resistance of the sensor is at that temp.
Thats what people in the toyota community use specifically for the egr temp sensor bypass. Otherwise you get the EGR Code 71 CEL. 10k resistor in the plug on the harness that goes to the sensor that will be eliminated and blocked on the top back side of the intake manifold supposedly keeps you from throwing that code. Im gonna try it. I have read about it on 4x4 toyota truck sites.
Might as well try. You might wait until it throws the code though. Randomly following internet advice can be costly. Like I stated before, I didn't add any resistors to anything and didn't throw codes. Also, the first search I did on it, the guy recommended a 1k resistor.
