I believe the only digital dash was for the 87 Pickup and 4Runners with turbo other than that I do not think Toyota ever made a digital dash for the trucks. James
Not aware of any ready made bolt in clusters for the toys, you'll probably have to custom make your own layout, many choices available for digital gauges depending on your liking. I did a custom install on my 75 using Cyberdyne digitals, only complaint I have with the them is the are extremely bright at night, I had to come up with a solution for that as there is no way to dim them with a dimmer switch.
Decide what brand gauges you want to use, what size, which ones, placement, then see if you can fit it into some type of mounting plate and fit it into your original dash cluster. One that comes to mind is Truck Actions dash setup, I believe he's using all Autometers, non diggy custom installed in his dash. On my setup I removed the stock radio, cutout the plastic across the entire radio, heater control panel , made a new filler plate the same size, epoxy'ed it in place, filled, sanded, painted, and mounted 5 gauges across there where the old radio used to reside. The possibilities are endless, just use your imagination and go for it.
dakota digital is the best, hands down.. for about 700 bucks they have a gauge cluster all digital.. you just gotta figure out how to mate it to your dash.. my idea is to put a piece of stainless steel in place of the original cluster and cut a hole the size of the new one and mount to that its not cheap in any way or form though
Yeah, I got a extra stock cluster, cut it out ,made a new face plate,& installed the Auto Meter gauges. The Dakota Digital gauges are good,& they may have a insert that will go into the stock position! Just remember that you need all the stock wiring to inner connect,so you need the factory wiring shop book,to get all correct, along with all the resisters & diodes from the stock cluster! It is do a able!
The electrical connections have to tie into the stock wiring as I said, the speedo drive I got from www.speedometersoluutions.com. Part # HE22C,$92.50 plus shipping.Screws directly to the trans( it's 22MM with a tang) Works with Autometer,VDO,Stewart Warner & others.
