Hey guys this is my 88 pickup. Took better detailed photos for you guys. Gonna start working on the suspension. I'm very noob at automotive work but I learn fairly quickly. I know basics like oil changes, brake jobs, tire rotations, stereo installs and subs and speakers. Just hand me a ratchet and/or torque wrench and show me the way. I wanna get my truck tinted, change the ugly giant steering wheel, change my wheels/tires and level/lower this thing out and maybe get it painted. Be nice, truck is a work in progress. Picked it up for $2500 at California Mini Trucks in Montclair, CA . Truck has 203,872 miles on it currently and works great despite a few minor repairs needed.

Looks like a great, rust free truck to base your project on,here on the east coast, finding a chassis that rust-free is tough...that body style looks so good that any choices you make will be cool:D

Steve, depending on your skill level, i would start with the basics, change the fluids, throw a quality set of plugs in her, check all the brake specs...so you know where you are, then plan for mods as money and time become available. Driving these trucks around is half the fun, so have fun with it ! ...and learn as you go:cool:

Thanks Turbo. Yeah I just got new spark plug wires for her, I'll be popping those in possibly later today if im not too tired from work (just got off work at 6am). I know the basics pretty much. Anything engine involved such as boring or changing a head gasket is beyond me. I wanna learn about suspension, figure out what all I can change on my own without having to go to a Mechanic or have a shop do it. The leaf springs look kinda bad... I'm guessing they're original to the truck. I'd like to replace those for sure. I talked to a shop and they were saying 2" lowering in the front and 4" lowering in the back would look good. I don't wanna roll the wheel wells or anything. I'm sure the shocks may need to be replaced. When I'm on the freeway doing 75, the rear end kind of hops around. Also the steering is kinda loose (too much travel in the steering to keep it straight)

Thanks. I see it as even if the engine dies. I can put a new 22r in it that's been rebuilt or has low mileage I could do that and use it for another 10-15 years. I wanna get a new car and I'll use this truck still to limit miles on my new car. Its a great truck. Ever since I crashed my first truck (power slid into a pole when it was raining) when I was 18, I've been wanting another truck.

    Updated!

I don't have all my pictures in order. So far what I've got done since I've owned the truck. Got my Windows Tinted, Removed the Hitch and Rear Bumper, Lowered the truck with 3" Blocks and removed the middle leafs, had a Magnaflow 40 Series Muffler Installed, Moved the License Plate from the Bumper to the Rear Body Underneath the Tailgate and Wired in the License Plate lights. I also tilted the Front Hood a bit for air ventilation of the Engine. Installed Blue neons under the dash for accent lighting. Added some stickers on the back window for personality, also installed 92' 4Runner Bucket Seats and sold my Bench Seat. Still more to come! I'll post some pictures to illustrate some of the things I've done and taken pictures of. ~Steve

That's pretty much the highlights of what I've done to the truck since April 18th, 2012 when I bought it. :)

Since I lowered it, I need to remove the rear bump stops. Get different rims and tires. I'll eventually notch the frame and do a BJ Flip and Dropped Lower Control Arms. I've gotta cut the ends of the U-Bolts off. Replace the Front Windshield and Roll the Front Fenders. Anyone wanna help me on some of this stuff?! :D Free Pizza and/or Beer haha

Is that how much those go for out there? Around here it would be crazy to spend over $1000 for that truck.

What did you do to lower the front and rear?
