So it's been awhile since I posted anything here. I actually picked this up last December. Its actually my new daily driver. I do a little over 100 miles a day with this one just about every day. Since bought, I removed the camper shell, lowered it 4 inches, changed ideas with wheels, redid the all the brakes, redid the master clutch cylinder and installed a K&N intake (thanks Hoshposh). I also installed some period correct accessories. On with the picures:

The side profile along with my 92 is an idea I'm thinking of for the wheels. Solid steelies color matched with thicker white walls. Still, just an idea

I like seeing our RN3#/4#'s fixed up. I also threw on a 4WD drive grille. I like the way all that chrome makes the front end "pop" on my truck.

BTW, where did you mount your fog light switch? I plan on going with a Toyota pull switch next to the cigarette lighter or a switch just in front of the fuse box.

    Thanks for the compliments guys

I actually thought of this. I was thinking of rehooping the stocks to maybe 18's The only thing keeping me from doing it is the fact that the ride with fat stock tires is good on gas and the ride feels so good as well.

I like the chrome front end too. I just can't seem to find a pre 82 (round headlight) chrome version of it.

Besides the radio hole being hacked up from the previous owner, the dash is clean. I decided not to add any additional holes to the dash. I used the old toggle switch that the fog lights came with and mounted it just below the speedo's bezel by using a longer screw. Everything I added to the truck can be removed and put back to stock.

Does anyone know where I can find the rare canadian clock for the dash? I'd love to have this installed

That's a sweet truck. I'd re-shell the wheels but in something 16" rather than 18". Subtlety is key.

    Stock size tires

They are the stocks (195/75/r14). I'm currently running Chrysler 300 Steelies right now. Tire size on these are 205/50/r17. Tire calculator says that I'm actually running a bit smaller compared to the stock tire which I actually feel on the freeway. Speedo says I'm doing about 3mph faster than I really am.

    Here's a current pic:

I like that look. But for comfort I think I'm gonna go stock steelies with the high profile tire to keep from getting my but kicked on the road... I get enough of that from my solid axle diesel...

The chrome headlight bezels for the '79-'81 are indeed rare. You may want to consider finding some regular ones and having them chrome plated.

Yup! I don't want to make any holes in my dash, so I was considering using a Toyota pull switch in the covered up hole where the overdrive switch/pull choke cable would have been.

These clocks are listed in the parts catalog with a footnote of: "we will examine the possibility of supply." The analog part number does not come up in the system, but the digital one does (83910-89104). The retail price is: $98.21. Now, it will all depend on if there is stock in the warehouse. Toyota parts can still show valid, but where it counts is when searching the country or the world for its availability. I'll check on this for you.

    No progress lately...

I've been driving this daily (~100 miles round trip) with no issues.

I did have my sensor light turn on me. Turns out, Its actually used as a service light (turns on every 30,000 miles).

Anyone local out there got a lead for another set of Chrylser 17" steelies? My tires are getting bald...

    Small updates

I really don't have any BIG updates. I just love driving my trucks. Recently picked up a new set of steelies and painted them before buying new tires. Got some old center caps on them now just for more of a stock appearance. I hope you guys like it:
