So I came across this Plasti Dip recently..apparently allot of people are using it to do rims, emblems, and even entire cars!! The benefit is you can peel it off if you mess up or don't like it, its kind of rubbery. So I got the bright idea to do my entire motorcycle, went to Lowe's today got a couple cans and I'll be trying to get this done before the week is out..If it comes out well, I would like to try it on the truck, but we shall see! Stand by for some pics..there are a ton of videos on youtube as well on this stuff But has anyone on here used it before? More specifically on your truck?
i used it on my corner lamps. I only did one coat so it scratches and you can see the chrome under. Now Im all chrome up front, except for the corners so while the engine is getting fixed I will attempt to remove it.
I've looked into plasti dip for a while but not found a project I wanted to use it on yet. Let me know how your bike turns out!
I remember buying a can of it in red about 10 years ago when we lived in Arkansas (man I miss living in the south) at a hardware store, I bought it to cover parts of some yard tools for a better grip, hammer, shovel ect and I ended up trying it on a few motor parts on my old Tacoma, I did the oil dipstick handle and the lids to the oil, p/s, brake and clutch fluid, had a seen a guy do it to his parts in blue, turned out pretty good and if it starts to scratch or chip you can just peel it off, might try it again to this truck in red, who knows?
I remember you old tacoma not forgotten. Still have some pics of it in my email. What happened to that truck?
just got done doing the front fender and tail on my bike. Gotta say it goes on very easily, as in virtually no prep work is required, i just washed the parts in dish soap. It came out really smooth and the color is flat and even all around. The only thing i don't like is that once completely dry it still feels wet, but its not wet its the rubbery texture that its supposed to do. It collects lint pretty easy as well, not sure how this will clean up if I intend to wash it..Pics coming soon
lol, i've seen people plastidip everything from grilles, wheels and emblems on cars/trucks. most people are using the spray on method, comes in a can ready to go and leaves kick ass results.
all done! This stuff couldnt be easier to spray, no fear of any real overspray, just pull it off when dry..accidentally touch it with your hand and make spot, just spray over its thick enough..the only thing i dont like is the texture but thats the point of this stuff, is to have that texture..I'm happy the way it came out for $11..when i get tired of it I'll just pull it off..gotta paint my helmet to match now too!!
dip Damn that came out nice. Can you post up a pic of this product you are using so i can look for it on guam.
