Tran????

    Can anyone give me a run down on how to drop the transmission on my truck its a 1988 T/P I need to drop it my clutch went out and need to put a new one in this weekend any input by anyone helps thx guys and also how long dose it tak to do as in drop it swap clutch flywheel and bearing and put it back 2gether? Thx

    I did mine in about 6 hours, but that was on the ground on jack stands. I also upgraded from the craptastic G tranny to a W56. did the clutch, flywheel, throw out bearing and pilot bearing while there.
    if I had a lift, would have been maybe 2 1/2 hours.

    run down-
    disconnect battery, remove starter, drain transmission, take shifter out on top, remove driveshaft, remover cross member, remover center brace, remover all bellhousing bolts, pull tranny out. then remove clutch assembly, then fly wheel, then pilot bearing. go to tranny and remove through out bearing. no do everything in reverse. make sure to use a good lube to fill your tranny back up.
