i just dont get this fad... what is the benefit of wheels and tires like this? the handling cant be better with the sidewall stretched out like that. it seems like one decent sized pot hole and you would blow the bead right off.
It's not for performance reasons. It's just to make wheels that don't fit, fit. Just another subculture of the car scene and it's not for everyone.
for me, I like the way it looks. fortunately even the worst potholes and bumps I've encountered haven't caused any problems (maybe I've been lucky lol). but yea, it's not for everyone
I'm with ya on the super stretched stuff. I've got just a bit of it going on with 195/50's and 205/60's on 15x8's but there are guys running the same tires on 10" wide wheels and it looks recawkulous. Oddly enough the ride improved with just a change from 15x7's to the 8's. Guess taking the square shoulder away from the tire helped soften the sidewalls.
