92 22re what years interchange ?

    ok guys need a motor. what years interchange? will a 22r work with my intake or do I need a re?

    should be late 83 and up will work

    should just need to transfer any sensors to the 22r off ur re i would go 85+ i forget what year they changed for sure off the top of my head

    anyone know for sure? I'm trying to find a whole truck since both my boys have one I could use some parts but I need to know for sure. hate to buy something that won't work. our topend is good bottom is coming out.

    I found a 89 for $700 with 150,000 miles but it's r not a re.

    Head and block are the same. I have changed from efi motor to carbed motor many times.

    here read this, 22R to 22RE swap FAQ - Pirate4x4.Com

    "The stock 22R head can be used with 22RE intake (if it’s an ’83 and later head), so there’s no need to get an EFI head unless the head you’re using is an early 22R head, in which case you’ll need to drill and tap three new holes or use the donor EFI head."
