You have to its the only way to be safe. Grinding your wheels anywhere can lead to stress cracks and/or failure. Changing lug nuts doesn't do much. You might get a thread or two more but thats still not safe. It should be threaded through the nut unless you have the capped off nuts in any case it should be 3/4 of the threads or more at a minimum depending on the size of the nuts. If you have short nuts then they should be threaded all the way through.

I put 4x4 lugs on and have tons and thread bite now. I am good. I did some polishing on the inside of the rims but that was about it. They fit pretty good except I do get some rubbing on bigger bumps. I will fix that this spring.

Hey guys! Haven't been on in a while, sorry to get back so late. Notch is only cut into the frame about 2". The bump stops are screwed in the bottom of the notch using low profile polyurethanes. I'll see if I have any pictures to post. The plan is to send her out for paint next month. Keep you all posted:waytogo:

Boring the centers eliminated the need for spacers, and installing 20 longer studs, and got the wheels to sit flush against the front hubs and rear drums, after all safety first... Right? It cost me about $120 bucks to do it, but that included the dismounting all 4 tires, boring, remounting and balancing. Also, I'm running 2wd vs 4wd fenders and the extra 1/4 inch helps to the keep the wheels tucked and low, especially after the notch.

Can I get some more info in that black donor truck? As far as what type of drop setup and wheel and tire size? Hopefully someone can remember!

Belltech spindles and cranked torsions up front. Middle leaf pulled and 2 inch block with air shocks in the rear. Wheels were 17x8 with 235/45/17 tires.
