Congrats on your '73 and your new project! These are great fun to work on although I'm sure right now your not sure about that. As for the response time you gotta be patient, the advice on here can take a while sometimes cause we're all out in the garage wrenching! So #1 you have a battery that is putting out at least 12.5v right? You said no 'turning over' and 'no spark'. So it won't turn over at all? Or is that it will turn and you have no spark at your plugs? I have a '74 with the 18RC motor and my cables were heavily rusted around where they connect to the battery and the ground. Also they were loose where they connected to the starter. Used a Dremmel on the connections (shiny) and tightened everything and it cranked away. But you might have other issues as well. So if needed do the above. Then (unplug your coil HT lead) and try jumping your starter by making contact between the posts-or with a jumper wire. If it turns then your next stop is ignition override switches (clutch and neutral). You can jumper them and turn on the ignition to test their function (replace if bad or overide). Next could be your ignition switch, put a 12v bulb between the solenoid and ground and jiggle your key-doesn't light at all you have bad connection, broken wire, etc-light flickers you need a new ignition switch. You should also check to see if the motor will crank. Use a wrench on the crankshaft pulley and try and turn it over. I suggest picking up a repair guide to help you on your way. Each one has useful information, the Chilton seems to be the best. I have many projects on my Yota so I had to get the info, but I must admit it's the easiest vehicle I've ever worked on by far.
