What's up guys? I've searched and haven't really found what I'm looking for so maybe y'all can help.. I have a 22re with a cone filter intake and that's about it for performance so far.. I have a thrush turbo muffler with no cat and 2 inch piping.. I don't want to get to crazy on the motor because I drive 50 miles a day or more an like the mpg lol.. But I was wondering whT would be the best cam and header for my project.. Just looking for a little more power with Out losing mpg or reliability.. Thanks guys

a header from LCE and cam from LCE would be a great start. Also look into 22repreformance. Both site have great parts and good customer service.

    I started with LC's header,street cam,valve springs,K&N filter ,etc..
This was when I lost a head gasket , & my truck was a commuter & work truck!
Performance increased a lot with no effect on mileage!
Now run their Pro Street E F I, mileage is still very good ,23-26 driving hard, 31 if stay @ 65 !!

So just the street header? And I seen several different options on a cam.. I know some of them have to have internal work to run best and idk which one suits me better.. I really dont want to change anything inside if I can help it.. Just wanna drop the cam in and go

The street headers & mild street cam should work just fine & you will see a difference!

LCE hands down for the header but for the cam, look into a trd or crane cam. I have a TRD stage 1 cam, LCE header, and just installed LCE stage 2/ stage 3 over sized valves with street springs (port and polished head and my block is bored .040 over). I havent finished putting the motor back together but before the oversized valves, I noticed a huge difference!

If you had to choose one or the other, which would you guys get based on performance? The header or cam?? I plan on getting both eventually.. Just wondering which will show the most increase alone.. Tgsnks

I say header for ease of install and power you feel in the seat of the pants.

    header easy.

I didnt see a HUGE gain when I went to a comp 280/280.

Wouldnt bother doin it again if I did it over. But a Doug Thorley tri-Y is a bas-azz header though!

+1 on the Thorley, LC Pro headers have bigger primaries but unless you have some head work done or plan on getting it done I would skip the LC header and go for the Thorley or Headman Headers. Just my opinion so take it for what it's worth.

As for the cam, again unless you are planning on some major mods to the head I wouldn't throw anything larger than a 280 in there. Anything bigger I would highly suggest a port and polish, dual valve springs and better retainers. I have gone with a 292 from Web Cams but I had dual Mikuni's and major head work. I try and stay away from LC mainly because you can get the same parts from other sources at a lower cost, but they are tried and tested and are 100% legit in my book if you have the money for their parts.

I too have the throley header and am happy with it. The only thing I would like done to it now is to have it nitro plated. Good price and easy install.
