I've got a 67 Stout that the stock engine is pretty much done. I really want to keep this project all Toyota. I'm loyal, what can I say.
I'm trying to figure out the best most reliable set up to run. Originally, I was thinking a V6 (possibly super charged) but recently thought a V8 would be more fun. I'm looking for suggestions as to what motor, what trans, & rear end I should run. Also, I'm probably going to body drop it so vertical space may be an issue up front.

Thanks and look forward to any and all feed back.

I'm new to the engine codes and numbers...is the 2JZ an inline or a V6? Are they easy to find? @dillinja666 what do you have for sale exactly? I might be interested. I'm at the complete opposite end of the state, but I might be interested.

I dont think a 2JZ will fit in a stout. Im pretty sure a 22R is a hard fit in one too.

If I was trying to have a compact and powerful motor, Id vote for a GM 3400 or 3500 V6. They are very buildable and super compact. MG and Triumph guys use em all the time.

yeah 2jz would be a nightmare to fit after seeing pics of 22r swaps.

the main problem on staying with a toyota is doing the wiring. i paid a dude (one of two that i could find in the country that do the wiring) and my motor has no spark. and the guy that wired it is no where to be found.

if you're good at wiring i'd say go toyota. for simplicity i'd so go with a small block ford (just because i hate chevies lol)

@errrik89 yes the 2jz is easy to find, its an inline 6 motor from a 4th gen toyota supra. they are a pain to fit, but if you are going to bag the stout you are going to be doing firewall work anyways, might as well tub the firewall for the motor as well. the rear end of the stout will have to be replaced also cause its too weak for the motor.

@burnz if ya pay me i can take a look at your truck. Im a an electrical person. :) its what i do for a living.

Thanks Everyone for the input. I'm not worried about the length of the engine...making room in the firewall will be fine. Plus I'm probably going to remove the inner fenders and most likely add custom tubs. So space shouldn't be too bad.
I do want to keep it all Toyota, or as much as possible. As for wiring I've got some Toyota engineers and People that know this stuff that are willing to help.
I'm really leaning towards the 2JZ now....Need to figure out the transmission and the rear end.

dillinja666 any suggestions on a good rear end that will be able to handle the 2JZ motor? Also, is your engine for sale?

    Thanks
